Founded in 1992 by Rahab and Shine Tani, Banana Hill Art Gallery is a contemporary African art gallery located in Banana Hill, just west of the Nairobi city centre. Since its inception, it has played a pivotal role in building the Contemporary art scene in Kenya by representing a core group of emerging and established artists from East Africa and the continent in general.

It’s the rhythm of the streets, the melodic call of the vendor, and the heartbeat of our markets. In this stunning new series, Patrick Mukabi captures the high-energy choreography of the Kenyan marketplace—the persuasive gestures, the colorful displays, and the relentless spirit of the hustle.

Curated by Njeri Njenga, this exhibition strips away the chaos to reveal the beauty in the transaction. It is a tribute to the people who turn the pavement into a stage and everyday trade into a symphony of human connection.

Since 24 January, The African Horizons by Haji Chilonga has welcomed visitors into a world shaped by memory, daily life, and decades of artistic practice. The exhibition remains on view until 10 March.

Born in Tanzania’s Mtwara Region, Chilonga’s journey spans portraiture, sign writing, painting, and sculpture. His figurative works reflect lived experience and social observation, expressed with clarity and depth.

We are pleased to present The African Horizons, a solo exhibition by celebrated Tanzanian artist Haji Chilonga.

Rooted in everyday life, Chilonga’s paintings and sculptures reflect memory, labour, and shared human experience. Drawing from a lifelong practice shaped by portraiture, abstraction, and figurative storytelling, his work captures moments that educate, move, and quietly resonate.

We are delighted to present a new solo exhibition by Rahab Shine. Her journey as an artist began in 1990 after meeting Shine Tani. The two later founded Banana Hill Art Gallery, a place that has welcomed artists and art lovers for many years.

Rahab works with a clear sense of observation. She paints landscapes as they appear today, holding on to scenes that are slowly shifting with constant development. Her pieces carry a quiet sense of care for places that deserve to be remembered.

You are invited to visit the gallery and spend time with her work. The show will run throughout December and into the new year.
