Matatu Culture in Nairobi.
Guys, let's talk about transport business in Nairobi, especially rush hours where transport fare changes without prior notice and everyone on board somehow accepts it because they're left with no choice.
a passenger from Eastlando hardly pays above ksh 100 to Nairobi C*D early in the morning.
Rush hours, especially in the evening, unaingia same route, same matatu, same makanga on board, then conductor casually announce, “sahizi fare ni 150” then suddenly, the whole passengers on board goes silent.
What fascinates most are men, a matatu full of grown men but nobody dares to asks, “Boss, kwani fare imepandaje?” Mnalipa 150 peacefully without complaining then you continue with your phones like a gazette notice was issued and somehow wengine wetu hatukuiona😄
But there's this one who woman who finds it hard to pay gathers the courage to asks,
“today morning i paid Ksh 80 why 150 surely?”
That's when someone from the backseat shouts, “Ata mimi nilikuwa nashangaa, Ksh 150 is way too high stop extorting people, we don't print Money buana”
The conductor decides to give you explanation of the year “Boss, kwani huoni kuna Jam? Alafu he goes ahead to tell you, hii ni Manyanga Boss, ungetaka bus fare za Soo jamo! Ungegoja embasavaa.”
By the way, since when Nairobi hakujakuwa na jam? traffic jam in Nairobi is always constant, both both Jogoo, Juja, Mombasa, Ngong and Thika Road are always busy.
On Rainy seasons, Bus fare immediately develops wings especially during rush hours, One minute it's Ksh 100 next Min Ksh 120, then suddenly wakati umezubaa hapo unaskia
“fare ni 200, unaingia ama?”
