We extend our deepest sympathies to all traders, business owners, families, and individuals affected by the devastating fire that occurred at Namanga Border last night. This tragic incident caused extensive destruction to businesses and livelihoods, leaving many members of our community facing significant losses.
We are deeply concerned by the apparent delay in the emergency response from the Kajiado County Government. During a disaster of this magnitude, the public expects a rapid, coordinated, and well-equipped response to protect lives and property. This incident underscores the urgent need to strengthen emergency preparedness and ensure that adequate firefighting resources are readily available to serve all residents without delay.
We sincerely commend the Kajiado Emergency Response Team and Team Moshisho for their commitment in delivering eight lorries of water to support the firefighting operation under extremely challenging circumstances.
We also extend our profound gratitude to the Government and people of the United Republic of Tanzania, especially the Tanzania Fire and Rescue Emergency Squad, for their swift response and invaluable assistance. Your professionalism, compassion, and cross-border cooperation played a vital role in containing the fire and minimizing further destruction. Your support is a powerful demonstration that true friendship and solidarity know no borders.
As the affected families and businesses begin the difficult journey of recovery, we call upon the Kajiado County Government to thoroughly review its emergency response systems, invest in adequate firefighting capacity, and take decisive steps to ensure that communities are never left vulnerable during future emergencies.
On behalf of the people of Namanga, we express our sincere appreciation to every individual and organization that stood with the community during this difficult time. We also urge all relevant authorities to learn from this tragedy and work together to build a faster, stronger, and more resilient emergency response system.
