The day has finally arrived! After 5 years of blood, sweat and tears we have finally officially launched, and the first two episodes are now available on YouTube! 🎬 ✨

This animated series follows the magical journey of two Kenyan siblings, Uli and Tata, as they travel across Africa with their ancient giant turaco bird, discovering the continent’s most beloved nursery rhymes 🎶🌍

And this is just the beginning! Over the next two months, we will be releasing more episodes and exclusive content that will continue to inspire and entertain children.

We're excited to launch the official trailer for Uli & Tata's African Nursery Rhymes! 🌍🎶

Follow two siblings on their magical adventures across Africa in this enchanting 2D animated kids’ series. When Uli and her brother Tata stumble upon traditional instruments in the store of their Nairobi home, they accidentally summon an ancient giant turaco bird from Kenya’s last rainforest. Together, they journey across the continent in search of Africa's nursery rhymes.

Through song and story, they learn important life lessons while celebrating Africa's rich cultural and natural heritage 🪘🌿

Here's a little snapshot of last Sunday's experience 🎨 HUE ARE YOU? 🎨 at Our WonderHouse.

We viewed Chief Nyamweya's bold collection of limited-edition art prints, we drew our stories, and we even sang in Kisii and danced in Giriama with the amazing music maker Nabalayo 🎶.

It was a beautiful day!

International Women's Day is an opportunity for us to reflect both on the progress the women of the world have made to date, as well as the challenges that remain yet ahead of us.

In particular, we as Freehand Studios would like to recognize the contribution of our creative producer and co-founder . Sarah is the tireless engine working behind the scenes of everything we publish. Key among her missions is ensuring that the female characters we create reflect the depth and dynamism that has too often been muted in favour of tired tropes.

As with many sectors, the animation industry has been historically male dominated. As a result, generations of young women - especially on the African continent - grew up never seeing themselves properly represented in the stories we consumed. As an African animation studio, located on the youngest continent on the planet, it is our mission to create memorable female characters that model the future that we wish to inhabit.
