I always tell people: before fixing a KD number plate, make sure the car is insured—otherwise you’ll regret it—utalia.

A friend of mine had been saving for years to buy her dream car, a Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG. She finally raised enough money and travelled to Mombasa to purchase it.

When she was coming back, I advised her to either send a trusted driver from Nairobi to pick the car or have it transported in a container. But she told me she had already found a cheaper driver in Mombasa to deliver it to Nairobi.

Unfortunately, the car never made it to Nairobi—the driver got into an accident along the way.

Luckily, the KD number was insured, so the insurance company will cover the repairs. Still, it’s going to be a long process though.
