In this page, we strive to explain background of events that happen, and help in giving perspective to current situation as related to the past historical landmarks.
You may decide to call me a tribalist, but that will never stop me from explain what is going on...
As I have said time and time again... The current push against Ruto has nothing to do with his performance... Current talk of Revolution has nothing to do with cost of living... Because no country in the world has ever had a revolution when Consumer Price Index has dropped, the price of stable food has fallen by 100%, the electricity supply is stable, the exchange rate is stable and everything else is running well...
It has everything to do with ethnic superiority and macabre ethnic rituals that took place in 1969....oath taking known as KΓΉria muma
Take 3 minutes to read the full story as written on August 15 1969....in Time Magazine....
Let me copy paste a small section that describes the oath....

"Vast Scale. The Kikuyu, according to one participant, strip naked, then hold hands in a circle around a darkened hut and chant an oath before entering it. Inside the hut they eat soil and swear to follow the oath. βThe government of Kenya is under Kikuyu leadership, and this must be maintained,β goes the pledge. βIf any tribe tries to set itself up against the Kikuyu, we must fight them in the same way that we died fighting the British settlers"

That is not Gordon Opiyo writing... But that's what was written in 1969 by an American Journalist who came to investigate what was going on in Kenya...
This is one aspect of the current wave that certain people want to brush aside... An aspect that explains why the wave of discontent is extremely strong in one region, and the billionaires from the region are desperate in trying to paint it as "national problem"
I am bringing this here because we have a small cabal of individuals who have the money and control 90% of Kenya media that have this mindset... To them power "belongs to them and nobody else can rule well"
I worked in the media during the Moi era and saw how more than 100 NGOs ganged up against Moi, but when Kibaki took over they all went silent...... And right now they are back to full force....
I also wonder how certain fellows can be rapidly opposed to Ruto and feel comfortable with his Deputy... If that is not due to the oath...
And you can remember the widely circulated video where Ngunjiri Wambugu was campaigning for Raila in 2022, and he said... "Let us vote for this old man because he is easier to get rid of, compared to the other guy who is a mjanja"
That clearly explained the suspicious support that his type gave to Raila..
My point is this.... There is a problem in this country and only an open discourse will resolve it.... The oath is what led to the 1982 coup attempt and we all saw oath taking in Limuru 3 when similar macabre oaths were repeated...
As we stand, there are fellows who believe that they have to fight Ruto "like they fought the colonialists".... It is the same mindset and oath that made certain people in 2007 refuse to hand over power, leading to thousands of deaths.
Could we openly talk about this oath that makes certain fellows believe that " It is their duty to fight anyone who is not from their tribe who takes presidency "?
Because, sincerely that ominous oath is having an impact..
Even to those who voted for Ruto... Majority who turned against him are cooking all manner of flimsy excuses.... And making irrational demands on the president and expecting him to perform miracles in a few months, yet they were very patient with Uhuru...
Our country will keep having problems due to the oath and the belief in it as long the "wrong tribe" Is in power...
