Join us this Friday from 5:30pm for our Project “CIRCE Local Research Activation
During the panel session we bring together a distinguished panel of cultural practitioners, researchers, educators, and community leaders to explore the theme of “Controversial Heritage: Memory, Identity and the Power of Storytelling.”
Join us as we examine how heritage shapes our collective memory, influences identity and challenges us to engage with difficult histories through dialogue, research and storytelling.
Meet the Panelists:
🔹 Linda Shuma: Mentor, Transformational Agent & Community Builder, Ubuntu Lab Institute
A passionate advocate for community led transformation and inclusive dialogue, Linda brings valuable insights on social memory, identity, and collective healing.
🔹 Rafael Abdulmajid: Head of Education, Fort Jesus Museum
With extensive experience in heritage education and preservation, Rafael will share perspectives on safeguarding cultural histories and engaging communities with contested heritage.
🔹 Dr. Wanyenda Chilimo: University Librarian, Technical University of Mombasa
A scholar , a researcher and information specialist whose work focuses on knowledge preservation, archives, and the role of institutions in shaping historical narratives.
🔹 Leonard Kateete: Veteran Artist & Cultural Historian
An accomplished artist and cultural historian whose practice explores memory, identity and the preservation of cultural knowledge through artistic expression.
🎤 Moderated by Sally Atieno: Curator, Associate Researcher, and Cultural Practitioner
Leading the local activation and exhibition experience.
