ONE OF THE REASONS THAT MAY PREVENT YOU FROM SEEING HEAVEN IS DEBT — THAT IS, LOANS YOU HAVE TAKEN
You borrowed money to buy a phone; the car you took was bought on credit; you built your house with a loan; your business is being operated with borrowed money; you cultivated your farm with a loan; YOU ARE STUDYING AT SCHOOL OR COLLEGE USING BORROWED MONEY. Others have only taken small loans—you borrowed money for clothes, borrowed household items, borrowed through mobile networks (Vodacom, Airtel), borrowed food from a food vendor, borrowed from a shop—and yet, without understanding what the Bible says, we say, “We have debts and we are going to heaven.”
THE TRUTH IS THAT DEBT IS A REASON THAT CAN PREVENT YOU FROM ENTERING HEAVEN, BECAUSE SCRIPTURE SAYS THIS:
Deuteronomy 28
2 And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the voice of the LORD your God.
12 The LORD will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand; AND YOU SHALL LEND TO MANY NATIONS, BUT YOU SHALL NOT BORROW.
15 But it shall come to pass, if you will not obey the voice of the LORD your God, to be careful to observe all His commandments and His statutes which I command you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you.
44 He shall lend to you, but you shall not lend to him; he shall be the head, and you shall be the tail.
4 And all these curses shall come upon you and overtake you and pursue you until you are destroyed, because you did not obey the voice of the LORD your God, to keep His commandments and His statutes which He commanded you.
Let me begin by saying that borrowing money is not a sin, but failing to repay a loan is the sin that will prevent you from entering heaven.
