I really enjoyed it. Thank you. I really appreciated the abstract nature. Some parts were really I felt myself interpreting and was very moved. But otherwise, the abstract nature for me was actually very, very satisfying.

とても楽しめました。ありがとうございました。抽象的な表現がとても良くて、一部は自分で解釈していると感じ、とても感動しました。それ以外にも、抽象的な部分が私にとって非常に満足のいくものでした。

It was really spellbinding. I found the music to be constantly surprising. I really enjoyed, didn't know where it was going to go next. I don't know, I I really wanted to see some Butoh and I was so pleased to see that there was something here at the festival. So, I was um just really grateful, glad to experience this beautiful art form. Come and see it if you want to feel moved inside your own body.

本当に魅了されました。音楽が常に驚きに満ちていて、とても楽しめました。次にどこへ向かうのか全く予想がつきませんでした。実は舞踏を見たいと思っていて、このフェスティバルでそれが見られてとても嬉しかったです。本当に感謝して、この美しい芸術形式を体験できてよかったです。もし自分の体の内側から感動を感じたいなら、ぜひ見に来てください。

opened on 18 August at Edinburgh Festival Fringe! 🎉

Our venue is Dance Base — Scotland's national centre for dance, with whom Dance Base Yokohama has launched its first international partnership this year.

Club music and lighting flood the stage — a contemporary Butoh driven by rotation and revolution.

Darren Johnston『PORTAL Choreographic and Spatial Research Residency』
本番の様子をお届けします。

6月28日(日)、DaBYエクスチェンジプログラムとして約3週間の滞在を経て創作された『PORTAL Choreographic and Spatial Research Residency』のショーイングを開催しました。

振付家・ディレクター・領域横断型アーティストのDarren Johnstonによる、動き・音・光・建築空間を横断する創作研究。DaBY “Wings”ダンサー3名との協働を通して、映像、身体、照明、音響が重なり合う空間が立ち上がりました。

翌日には、PORTALのさらなる発展に向けたリサーチ・シェアリングを実施。ダンサーの小暮香帆が参加し、記録撮影を行いながら、作品の可能性をさらに探求しました。

Scenes from the showing of PORTAL Choreographic and Spatial Research Residency.

On Sunday, June 28, Dance Base Yokohama presented a showing of PORTAL Choreographic and Spatial Research Residency, developed during an approximately three-week residency as part of the DaBY Exchange Programme.

choreographer, director and multidisciplinary artist Darren Johnston explored movement, sound, light, and architectural space through a collaborative process with three DaBY “Wings” dancers, bringing together projected imagery, bodies, lighting, and sound.

The following day, June 29, a research sharing session was held to further develop the PORTAL research. Dancer Kaho Kogure joined the session, with documentation filming conducted as part of the research.

○ゆるじわ体操 / 身体研究稽古会
講師：岩渕貞太 Teita Iwabuchi 
ダンサーが提案する、伸びをするところから始める体操。身体研究稽古会は武術のワークなどをやりながら、身体に備わった智慧や能力を探っていきます。ダンス経験不問、身体を動かすのが苦手でも大丈夫です。

参加費:

○Open Dance Salon / Kid’s Dance Salon
講師：小暮香帆 Kaho Kogure | 小暮香帆
「オープンダンスサロン」はあらゆる人々がダンスを通じて集う場です。好きな音楽を聴いたり景色を眺めていると、自然と身体が開放されて揺れるように。人と一緒に動き語り合いながら、ひたりと自分の身体に耳を傾けると、もっと面白い。
