Inside a traditional Japanese wooden house over 100 years old,
we quietly present a collection of African folk art and objects with a rich history.

The first floor is dedicated mainly to rugs.
Upstairs, three small rooms reveal
a slightly different world.

Objects that have been cherished and used in everyday life,
each carrying a story of its own.

During the Obon holiday,
we will be open by appointment only on August 15, from 10:30–12:00.

Vintage Boucherouite Rug

A vintage Moroccan Boucherouite, made by hand from strips of recycled textiles, each one knotted and woven into place.

Against a soft, neutral base, touches of blue, pink, green and black appear freely throughout the rug.

There is no strict pattern or predetermined design.
Instead, its character comes from the materials at hand, chance, and the intuition of the maker.

Vintage Boucherouite

A vintage Boucherouite that feels almost like a painting.

Made by weaving together colorful scraps of fabric,
this one reveals a wonderfully free composition—
with an almost figurative form emerging at its center.

There is no fixed pattern,
no carefully planned color palette.

using whatever was available to the weaver at the time.

Zandak｜A small work of art born from recycling.

Made by carefully stitching unraveled wool from old sweaters onto recycled flour sacks, Zandak is a unique expression of Moroccan craftsmanship.

In Berber villages, these pieces are often created by young girls as practice before weaving larger Boucherouite rugs, though some are also made by adults using reclaimed materials.

Once completed, they are traditionally hung in rooms where babies sleep, bringing warmth and a gentle sense of protection to the home.

Because the backing is made from a plastic flour sack, it may be slippery if placed on the floor.

We recommend displaying it as wall art, where its rich textures, handmade character, and story can be fully appreciated.

Each piece is one of a kind, carrying the beauty of creativity, resourcefulness, and everyday life in Morocco.

Zandak｜リサイクルが生み出す、小さなアート。

着なくなったセーターをほどき、ビニール製の小麦粉袋に一針ずつかがって作られる「Zandak（ザンダク）」。

ベルベルの村では、小さな女の子が将来ボシャルウィットを織るための練習として作ることが多く、大人が身近な素材を使って制作することもあります。

完成したZandakは、赤ちゃんのいる部屋の壁に飾られ、家族の暮らしをやさしく彩る存在。

土台が小麦粉袋のため、床に敷くと滑りやすいことがあります。

It’s been a while since I found a vintage Azilal rug that truly stopped me in my tracks.
