【Upcoming Exhibition】
Starting Saturday, September 19, we are pleased to present a solo exhibition by Naomichi Sato, an artist based in Okinawa.
Drawing on the sensibilities and experiences he has cultivated over the years, Sato has newly turned his attention to the creation of “vessels” for this exhibition.
Alongside these vessels, the exhibition features animal sculptures, tableware, and other works that bring together the artist’s journey so far with the direction of his practice to come.
We warmly invite you to experience SATO Naomichi’s current expression at the exhibition.

Artist Statement
光だまり
壺は、内側に空洞を抱えた形だ。
私は、その空洞に光を集めるような気持ちで壺をつくる。
光が怖くなった時期があった。暗い部屋で、窓から光が漏れないようにして、夜だけ起きていたことがある。暗さは、深い洞窟のようだった。
土と向き合うようになってから、炎は私にとって身近な存在になった。壺を焼くために見つめ続けた炎は、いつしか私にとって、暗さを照らしてくれる光のような存在になっていた。
棒状にした土を積み上げ、低い温度で何度も焼成を重ねる。形や色は、壺とひとつになっていく。
私は、光の粒を一つずつ集めるように、この壺をつくる。
その光は、暗い空洞を消すためではなく、そこに静かに留まるためのものだ。
この空洞は、たぶん、私だけのものではないと思っています。

I make vessels with the feeling that I am gathering light into that space.
There was a time when I became afraid of light. I stayed in a dark room, blocking out the light from the windows, and was awake only at night. The darkness felt like a deep cave.
After I began working with clay, fire became something familiar to me. As I continued to watch the flames while firing my vessels, the fire gradually came to feel like a light illuminating the darkness.
I build up coils of clay and fire the vessels many times at low temperatures. Through this process, form and color become one with the vessel.
I make these vessels as though gathering particles of light, one by one.
The light is not there to erase the dark space, but to remain quietly within it.
I think, perhaps, this empty space is not mine alone.

Kiaf SEOUL 2026は昨日閉幕しました。

今回は鈴木由衣がフェア内のアワード「HIGHLIGHTS」のセミファイナリストに選出されたこともあり、アートイベントでのプレゼンテーションや特集記事、ソウル各所の大型ビジョンでの紹介など、温かなサポートをたくさんいただきました。また、さまざまなギャラリストや専門家の方々からも評価をいただきました。

鈴木由衣とともに幸せを感じました。また次に向けて進みます。

Kiaf SEOUL 2026 closed yesterday.

With Yui Suzuki selected as a semifinalist for the fair’s HIGHLIGHTS Award, we received generous support through opportunities including a presentation at an art event, feature articles, and coverage on large screens across Seoul. Her work also received recognition from many gallerists and art professionals.

It was a happy experience to share with Yui Suzuki. We now look ahead to what comes next.

이번에는 스즈키 유이가 페어의 HIGHLIGHTS 어워드 세미파이널리스트로 선정되어, 아트 이벤트에서의 프레젠테이션과 특집 기사, 서울 곳곳의 대형 전광판을 통한 소개 등 따뜻한 지원을 많이 받았습니다. 또한 여러 갤러리스트와 미술 전문가분들께도 좋은 평가를 받았습니다.
