ANOMALYでは、6月10日より、できやよい個展「海」、ニキ・ド・サンファル個展「Anubis / Thoeris / Horus」を同時開催いたします。
フィンガースタンピングによって描き込まれたできやよいの作品群の重ねられた色彩は、揺らぎながら、近づくことで無数の顔として現れます。できの作品は、言葉になる以前の感覚や曖昧な記憶へ接近しようと広がり、過剰な色彩やキャラクター性は、不安や孤独、身体的記憶を祝祭へと変換するための装置でもあります。
本展では、2018年以降「さどの島銀河芸術祭」で発表してきた作品群を、新作の絵画を交えて紹介します。
サンファルの個展では、古代エジプト神話を題材とした《Anubis (アヌビス)》《Thoeris (トエリス)》《Horus (ホルス)》のカラフルに着色されたブロンズ像を展示します。それらは古代エジプト神話における死、生命の誕生、天空と王権の象徴であり、彼女が生涯にわたり追求した両義的な力と変容をめぐる根源的な主題と深く結びついていますが、サンファルはそれらを単なる異文化的な図像として引用するのではなく、現代における不安や欲望、身体性の変容を受け止めるための、神話的な造形言語として再構築しました。
両者に共通する装飾性は、単なる表面的効果ではなく、近代美術が切り捨ててきた感情性、工芸性、女性性を回復するために機能し、理性中心主義へのオルタナティブとして存在しています。

We are pleased to announce upcoming solo exhibitions; “The Sea” by Yayoi Deki, and “Anubis / Thoeris / Horus” by Niki de Saint Phalle.
In Deki’s works depicted through the finger-stamping technique, the layered colors seem to wave, and a closer look reveals the presence of a myriad of faces. Her works are spreading out in an attempt to approach feelings and vague memories that have not yet verbalized. Their excessive coloration and cartoon-character-like quality serve as devices for converting our worries, loneliness, and physical memories into celebrations.
This exhibition will show Deki’s works that have been shown at the Sado Island Galaxy Art Festival since 2018, along with newly produced works.
Saint Phalle’s exhibition features colorful painted bronze sculptures—Anubis, Thoeris, and Horus—drawn from ancient Egyptian mythology. In it, the figures are associated with death, the birth of life, heaven and kingship, respectively. They are deeply connected to the fundamental themes that occupied the artist throughout her life revolving around the opposing forces and transformation. Rather than simply appropriating these figures as motifs from another culture, she reconstructed them as a mythological visual language through which contemporary anxieties, desires, and transformations of the body might be understood.
The decorative nature shared by the works of both artists functions to recover the sensibility, craftsmanship, and femininity that have been discarded by modern art. Here, decoration exists as an alternative than to rationalism.
