Tokyo International Players Founded in 1896, TIP is the oldest, largest English-language theatre company in Japan. TIP is 100% volunteer-run.

Tokyo International Players (TIP) provides quality English-language entertainment for international audiences. Although TIP is essentially a non-profit group, the work it produces is by no means amateur. Over its long history, many active members have appeared in professional theatre in Japan and abroad. Tokyo International Players marks the end of the 2025-2026 season with a fabulous fundraising brunch featuring drinks, hors d'oeuvres, and an exclusive performance of beloved musical theater tunes.

Tokyo International Players (TIP) will formally conclude the 2025-2026 season with our annual fundraising cabaret, a one-time-only exclusive event for those interested in financially supporting the mission of TIP to continue producing quality English-language theatre in Japan, as we have since 1896. This year’s theme is Mimosas and the Music of Rodgers and Hammerstein.

This fundraising initiative, marking the end of the audience season, will allow TIP one last opportunity to raise much-needed funds for our upcoming 2026-2027 season, which will include a full calendar line-up of mainstage productions, small-scale events, workshops, and more.

For a minimum donation of ¥10,000, guests will receive a welcome mimosa as they enter the venue, an array of small brunch bites, and an exclusive performance of music by Rodgers and Hammerstein featuring talented TIP veterans Sarah Yanagita, Georgia Ryder, and Alexander O’Malley.

Tokyo International Players is excited to present the English-language premier of JONQUIL: THE LEGEND OF LOVE AND THE TURNING SEASONS with book and lyrics by Saori Gonoi; music by Ko Kamakura, Takachika Ehara, Mion Nazakura, and Saori Gonoi; translated and directed by Jazlaan Karshis.

WHAT TO PREPARE
* A contemporary, comedic monologue of 1-2 minutes, and
* A short excerpt (16-32 bars or one minute) from your favorite Disney- or fairy tale-inspired song

Choose something that inspires you and shows off your personality. Have fun with it! Your monologue and song should both be memorized; you may choose to sing a capella or with prerecorded accompaniment. You may be asked to do some simple vocal exercises to demonstrate vocal range. You will also be sent a digital liability waiver and general questionnaire so you can tell us about your theater/performance background and rehearsal availability.

AUDITION DATES (BY APPOINTMENT ONLY)

SESSION 1: Monday, June 15th (7pm-10pm) 
SESSION 2: Wednesday, June 17th (7pm-10pm)
SESSION 3: Thursday, June 18th (7pm-10pm)

CALLBACKS (BY INVITATION ONLY)
Sunday, June 21st (5:30pm-8:30pm)

PERFORMANCE DATES
October 22-25, 2026 (actors must also be available for tech/dress rehearsals on October 20-21)

Email the casting director at [email protected] with your preferred audition date (SESSION 1, 2, or 3). Appointments will be scheduled in 10-minute increments over each session.
