A close up shot of ‘People I Saw’ (2022) taken at Zadok Ben-David’s solo exhibition in Gyre Gallery, Japan, earlier this year. All 275 people in this piece were drawn from real people who Ben-David encountered across many continents. Each person revealing something about themselves: their body language, clothing or the people and animals they are accompanied by. It shows subtle expressions of identity.

We are pleased to be part of Only Tree Knows, a new group exhibition at the Shanghai Natural History Museum. Bringing together contemporary works by 12 artists alongside the Museum’s natural history collections, the exhibition explores the complexities of nature through installation, sound, video, painting and digital media.

In this exhibition, we present Blackflowers. Made from hand-cut aluminium and painted black, these large-scale flowers were carefully selected for this exhibition from a collection of over 50 sculptures.

The exhibition is open until the 28th of August 2026.

Blackfield’s landscape transforms with every location in which it is exhibited. Shifts in scale, accumulation and the repositioning of flowers create a unique experience for viewers each time. From this image, you see only one side of Blackfield, a vibrant array of colorful botanical forms, unbeknownst to what the other side looks like. You can experience Blackfield at Gyre Gallery as part of Zadok’s solo exhibition.

‘Second Nature’, a solo exhibition by Zadok Ben-David, brings together decades of his work, including Blackfield, Evolution and Theory and The Other Side of Midnight. For the first time, a selection of Zadok’s pieces is shown together in a single exhibition across a range of media: floor and darkroom installations, video, and wall and floor sculptures, all exploring a shared theme.

‘For the past forty years, I have been working around the theme of Human Nature. I use images drawn from science; animals, plants, and trees as metaphors for our daily attitudes and behaviours. Unfortunately, we tend to forget that we, as human beings, are an integral part of nature. We often exploit it for our own needs, to the point of destruction and extinction.’

Be sure to visit ‘Second Nature’ at Gyre Gallery before it closes on 19 April!

A huge thank you to Gyre Gallery for creating this video which showcases some of Zadok’s most influential work.

We are excited to announce the opening of ‘Second Nature’ at Gyre Gallery in Tokyo, Japan.

Second Nature brings together a curated selection of works by Zadok Ben-David that, until now, have not shared the same space. Spanning multiple periods of the artist’s practice, the exhibition offers a rare opportunity to experience these pieces in dialogue - revealing connections, shifts in intention and reoccurring motifs that threat across time.
Curated by Zadok Ben-David.

Opening dates:
14th February - 19th April 2026

We hope you are able to attend!
