Jinny Street Gallery is in the heart of Jingumae 2-chōme (神宮前二丁目), commonly known as “Jinni” (神二) by the locals.

Whiff outside the city hustle, with its little showcases scattered through all the streets. Jinny is for stroll lovers that do not care much about the destination but the joy of the process. Jinny is for urban flâneurs who take time to love the city in all its shapes and colors. Home to all who do not feel like going anywhere but to walk and enjoy our exhibitions.

🎐 Furin Design Workshop with Angry Albatros! 🎐

Katarina (aka Angry Albatros), an amazing Czech illustrator and a longtime friend of Jinny, will be visiting Japan this June! ✨

To celebrate her visit, we’re hosting a special collage/design workshop and casual meet & greet at NININI-NI.

During the workshop, you’ll create your own postcard inspired by furin (Japanese wind chimes) using origami paper, foil, drawing, and collage techniques. No experience is needed, the workshop is beginner-friendly and lasts around 60 minutes.

After the workshop, we’ll gather for some food and drinks together at a location close by. If you’d like to stay and join us, just let us know when you book your spot! 🍻✨

This is a rare opportunity to meet a professional illustrator visiting from Prague, hear about her creative practice, and ask any questions you may have about illustration, publishing, and working as a creative professional. Katarina will be happy to share her experience and chat with everyone. See you there!

Jinnyの長年の友人であり、チェコ・プラハを拠点に活動するイラストレーター Katarina（Angry Albatros）が、6月に日本へ遊びに来てくれます！✨

せっかくの機会なので、NININI-NIで特別なコラージュワークショップと交流会を開催することにしました。

ワークショップでは、折り紙やホイル素材、ドローイングを組み合わせながら、風鈴をモチーフにしたオリジナルポストカードを制作します。初心者の方も大歓迎です！所要時間は約60分です。

ワークショップ終了後は、みんなで軽食やドリンクを楽しみながら交流する時間も予定しています🍻✨ ご参加希望の方は、予約時にぜひお知らせください。

The streets of Jingumae continue to transform through art, play, and unexpected encounters.

As part of the JINNY PLAYGROUND project, streetlight poles throughout the neighborhood have become homes for artworks by artists from Japan and around the world. Each installation offers a different way to experience the city inviting visitors to pause, look closer, and engage with their surroundings in new ways.

Featured Installation: Big Wingnut

A giant red wingnut has appeared in the street.

Inspired by the familiar forms of tools and hardware, Big Wingnut transforms an everyday object into something monumental and unexpected. While it resembles a functional tool component, its oversized scale shifts our attention away from utility and toward memory, material, and imagination.

Created by artist and blacksmith Tobias Birgersson, the work reflects on what it means to make things by hand in the twenty-first century. Through its bold presence, it creates a dialogue between craftsmanship, sculpture, and the urban environment.

And unlike most sculptures, this one is meant to be experienced directly.

During the exhibition, visitors are invited to touch it, grab hold of it, and spin it themselves. What appears at first to be a giant object becomes a playful encounter with form, scale, and movement.

This is the place where this big red wingnut exists.

JINNY PLAYGROUNDプロジェクトでは、街路灯のポールひとつひとつが、国内外のアーティストによる作品の展示空間となっています。それぞれの作品が、街を歩く人々に新しい発見や体験をもたらします。

街の中に、巨大な赤いウィングナットが現れました。

工具や機械部品として見慣れた形を大きく拡張した Big Wingnut は、日常の中にある当たり前のものを新しい視点で見つめ直すきっかけを与えてくれます。

アーティストであり鍛冶職人でもあるトビアス・ビルガーソンによるこの作品は、現代における手仕事やクラフトの意味を問いかけながら、彫刻と都市空間の新しい関係性を生み出しています。

そして、この作品は見るだけではありません。

会期中は実際に触れたり、手で回したりすることができます。巨大なウィングナットとの直接的な体験を通して、形や重さ、スケールを身体で感じてみてください。

We were lucky to have beautiful weather, and it was a lot of fun bringing everything to life together!

The streets of Jingumae are turning into a playground.

As part of the Jinny Playground project, everyday streetlight poles across the neighborhood are being transformed into interactive artworks by artists from Japan and around the world. What was once ordinary space is now becoming something you can pause, explore, and play with.

Each installation invites you to slow down, look closer, and take part—because play isn’t just for children, it’s a way of seeing our neighborhood differently.

Step up, open the small window, and reach inside.
Take a pencil or crayon, and draw directly into the city space.

No rules. No limits.

それぞれの作品は、ゆっくり歩きながら気づき、参加できるようにデザインされています。「遊び」は子どもだけのものではなく、日常を少し違う視点で見つめ直すきっかけです。

小さな窓を開けて、中に手を伸ばしてみてください。鉛筆やクレヨンを取り出し、そのまま街の空間に描くことができます。

✨Walk around Jinny and create your own map! ✨
Workshop with

Last weekend we took advantage of the amazing weather and went for a walk around the Jinny neighborhood, collecting shapes, textures, and little details from the city.

Plants, walls, trees, marks on the ground, everything around us became inspiration.

After the walk, we came back to the workshop space and turned all the textures and traces we collected into foldable zines.

It was so much fun to explore our neighborhood and look at the city with different eyes. Thanks to everyone who joined us ,it was amazing to see how much creativity can come from a simple walk around the city 💛

Jinnyのまちを歩いて、自分だけの地図をつくろう！✨
ワークショップ with

先週末は気持ちのいい天気の中、神宮前2丁目の商店街lをみんなで歩きながら、街の中にある形や質感を集めました。

植物、壁、木、道にある模様や跡。
いつも何気なく見ているものも、全部インスピレーションのもとに。

街で集めたテクスチャーや痕跡を持ち帰って、最後はみんなで折りたたみ式のジンにまとめました。

普段の街をいつもと違う目線で見るのがとても楽しくて、シンプルなお散歩からこんなにたくさんのアイデアや表現が生まれるんだなあと感じた1日でした。

✨“Jinny Playground” | New exhibition at Jinny Street Gallery✨
May 30 — July 6, 2026

Jingumae 2-chome is home to a small local park called Senbara Children’s Park (commonly known as Senbara Park), beloved by neighborhood families. At the same time, because the park is enclosed by fences, it can also feel like a space reserved primarily for children.

“Jinny Playground” reinterprets this landscape by expanding the concept of the “playground” beyond the park itself. Rather than confining play to a designated location, the project reimagines the entire neighborhood as an open playground where anyone can freely participate.

During the exhibition period, all poles at Jinny Street Gallery will house artworks and installations that require some form of interaction from passersby. The works invite people to stop, peek inside, touch, interact, and rediscover everyday streets through curiosity and play.

“Play” is not only for children ,
it is a way of engaging with the world.

神宮前二丁目には、「千原児童遊園地（通称：せんばら公園）」という小さな公園があります。近隣のファミリー層に親しまれている一方で、フェンスに囲まれたその空間は、“子どものための場所”として限定的に感じられる側面もあります。

「Jinny Playground」は、この風景を再解釈し、“遊び場”という概念を公園の外へと広げます。特定の場所に閉じるのではなく、街全体を誰もが自由に参加できるオープンな遊び場として捉え直します。

会期中、Jinny Street Galleryのすべての街路灯ポールには、通行人のアクションや参加を促す作品やインスタレーションが展示されます。作品は、道ゆく人が思わず立ち止まり、覗き込み、触れ、関わりながら、日常の街並みを“遊び”と好奇心を通して再発見できるような体験を生み出します。

“遊び”は子どものためだけのものではなく、
世界との関わり方のひとつです。

🚀The #12 post in our Jinny Doodles series is here — featuring Lucas Sales

This time we’re introducing Lucas Sales, an illustrator and graphic designer from São Paulo.

We first connected through Instagram, and earlier this year we finally got to meet in person when Lucas stopped by one of our events during his trip to Tokyo the night Lorenzo was making pasta at Ninini. It was really nice to finally meet face to face!

Lucas’ work is full of bold shapes, bright colors, and playful characters inspired by everyday moments. During his stay in Japan, he spent a month walking through different neighborhoods around Tokyo, visiting bookstores and convenience stores, and taking in small details from daily life.

You can really feel those memories and observations in his recent drawings.
For his Jinny Doodles piece, Lucas imagined our gallery as a lively space filled with colorful characters and music flowing through the city .

The warm yellow tones and playful atmosphere feel very “Lucas,” and we’re very happy to welcome him into the Jinny universe!

Hopefully we can see him again soon in Shibuya.

Jinny Doodles 第12弾は、Lucas Sales さんとのコラボです。

今回は、São Paulo を拠点に活動するイラストレーター／グラフィックデザイナーのLucasをご紹介します。

最初はInstagramを通じてつながりましたが、今年の初めにLucasがTokyo に来た際、ついに直接会うことができました。LorenzoがNininiでパスタを作っていたイベントの日です。オンラインで見ていた人と実際に会えたのがとても嬉しかったです。

Lucasの作品は、大胆なフォルムや鮮やかな色使い、そして日常から生まれる遊び心あるキャラクターたちが魅力です。日本滞在中は約1ヶ月かけて東京のいろいろな街を歩き、本屋さんやコンビニなどを巡っていたそうです。そうした日々の発見や空気感が、最近の作品にも自然と表れている気がします。

今回のJinny Doodlesでは、ギャラリー空間をカラフルなキャラクターや音楽が流れる楽しい場所として描いてくれました。暖かい黄色のトーンも印象的で、Lucasらしい空気感に包まれています。

LucasをJinny universeに迎えられて本当に嬉しいです！
