【TnT Vol.49 : Mural Art in Practice 】

Mural Art in Practice is a hands-on course at Temple University Japan led by TokyoDex founder Daniel Harris Rosen. Set at BnA_WALL in Nihonbashi, the course is structured as a live project with BnA, where students create original murals while responding to site conditions, audience context, and client feedback.

This semester’s theme is Nihonbashi. Through on-site research and observation, students developed their own interpretations of the area. From concept to final ex*****on, they experienced the full process, culminating in their first large-scale works in a real-world setting.

「Mural Art in Practice」は、Temple University Japanで開講されている実践型授業で、TokyoDex代表ダニエル・ハリス・ローゼンが指導しています。BnA_WALL（日本橋）を舞台に、BnAをクライアントとした実案件として、学生たちは現場の条件や観客、フィードバックに応えながらオリジナルの壁画を制作しました。

今学期のテーマは「日本橋」。学生たちは街をリサーチし、それぞれの視点から解釈を作品に反映させています。コンセプト立案から現地での制作まで一連のプロセスを経験し、実空間での初めての大規模制作に取り組みました。

【This&That Vol. 49：“Fresh Paint” 】

The final works from Mural Art in Practice, a course at Temple University, Japan Campus (TUJ) taught by Daniel Harris Rosen of TokyoDex, will be presented at BnA_WALL in Tokyo
Over the past semester, students have developed mural proposals through client feedback and site-specific planning, and are now completing their works on site. The opening event marks their first large-scale public debut.
Presented as part of This&That, TokyoDex’s ongoing art and music series, the evening will also feature live performances and bring together artists, students, and the broader creative community.

学生たちはこの一学期間にわたり、クライアントとのやり取りや現場条件を踏まえながらミューラルの提案を行い、現在は現地での制作を進めています。本イベントは、彼らにとって初となる大規模作品の公開の場となります。
本イベントは、TokyoDexが主催するアート＆ミュージックシリーズ「This&That」の一環として開催され、ライブパフォーマンスとともに、アーティスト、学生、そして多様なコミュニティが交わる場となります。

【「Flux Machina」制作の舞台裏】

の55周年を記念して、日本アルプス・白馬に新しいアートを制作いたしました！⛰️

今回のプロジェクトは、これまで手がけてきたワークプレイス中心の空間づくりから一歩広がり、よりオープンな場所での挑戦に。建築や自然とどう調和させるかが大きなテーマとなりました。

デザイナーの と連携し、ペイント、ネオン、ライティングがこの雄大な景色の中でどう映えるかを試行錯誤。
異なる季節にわたり白馬の現地に滞在し、天候や光、人の動きによって移ろう空間を見つめることは、作品を形づくるうえで欠かせないプロセスでした。

アーティストの のミューラルと .0302 のネオンは、
ゲレンデのラインや人の流れ、まわりの景色からインスピレーションを受けて生まれた作品です。
制作期間中は白馬という土地そのものに身を置き、現場を越えて地域と向き合う時間を持てたことも、私たちにとってかけがえのない経験となりました。

【Behind the scenes of “Flux Machina”】
– our latest public art installation in the Japanese Alps ⛰️

To celebrate the 55th anniversary of , TokyoDex was invited to bring art into the heart of the mountains. This project marked an important step for us as we continue to move beyond workplace installations and into more public, architecturally integrated spaces.

Working closely with , we focused on how painted artwork, neon, and lighting could respond to this challenging and beautiful environment. Being on site in Hakuba across different seasons was a big part of the process. Watching the space shift with weather, light, and activity helped shape how the artwork ultimately came together.

The mural by and the neon work by .0302 grew directly out of that experience, responding to the flow of people, the slopes, and the surrounding landscape. We also had a great time simply being in Hakuba, spending real time in the area, and getting to know the place beyond the site itself.

【🎧Spotify Tokyo x TokyoDex 🎨】

Earlier this year, we had the chance to curate original artwork for Spotify’s new Tokyo office. We worked closely with both the global and local design teams to build something that reflects both Spotify’s global identity and Japanese creativity. Each piece drew from musical themes, interpreted through a distinctly local lens, with mural and canvas works by Komesennin, Maharo, and EISU. This was one of those rare projects where everything clicked. The client really understood what we were about and gave us the freedom to do what we do best. 2025年、TokyoDexはSpotifyの新しい東京オフィスに向けて、オリジナルアートをキュレーションする機会をいただきました。 Spotifyのグローバルおよび東京のデザインチームと密に連携し、ブランドのアイデンティティと日本ならではのクリエイティビティが融合した空間を目指しました。 各作品は音楽をテーマに、日本的な視点で表現されています。Komesenninの『Inner Light』、Maharoの『Rap Battle』はリズムや動きを鮮やかに描き、EISUの作品では、伝統的な版画の美学とデジタルモチーフが細部にわたって融合されています。 すべてが自然に噛み合った、理想的なプロジェクトでした。クライアントが私たちのやっていることをしっかり理解し、信頼して任せてくれたことが何よりも大きかったです。そして、このプロジェクトが実現できたのは、 の力強いデザインディレクションのおかげです。本当にありがとうございました。
