ArtEN is pleased to present the work of Marta Soul, currently on view in our 2026 Annual Exhibition: “Degrees of Contact”.

Marta Soul is a visual artist investigating the construction of emotional and social narratives. Working with staged photography, unframed paper formats, and archival collage, she creates photographic installations that emerge through the critical recontextualization of popular print culture and romantic fictions.
Interested in how intimacy, desire, and gender roles are systematically manufactured and performed, she approaches popular culture as an enduring archive of emotional memory rather than merely a site of critique.

ArtEN is pleased to present the work of Daniel Bălănescu, currently on view in our 2026 Annual Exhibition: “Degrees of Contact”.

Born in communist Romania and now based in Oxford, Bălănescu’s practice operates as a continuous social investigation. He is recognised for his critical intervention on alternative mediums, transforming mundane materials, such as transit tickets and raw fabric, into collective portraits and moving sculptures. His work frequently employs the recurring motif of the “Running Man,” a powerful symbol that navigates the inherent tension between the necessity for safety and the perpetual search for freedom. Grounded in a multidisciplinary approach, his mixed-media works capture the quiet urgencies of movement, memory, and everyday life.

ArtEN is pleased to present the work of Dávid Mátécsa, currently on view in our 2026 Annual Exhibition: “Degrees of Contact”.

Drawing on his lived experience as a Hungarian immigrant in the UK, Mátécsa’s experimental photography investigates the emotional conditions of displacement and belonging. Operating strictly in black-and-white, he reflects on the “nostalgic migrant” attempting to preserve cultural history within a host country. Rather than cohesive narratives, his work captures deliberate fragments—abstractions, repetitions, and a constant sense of hiatus—physically inhabiting an ongoing, in-between space.

ArtEN is pleased to present the work of Chema, currently on view in our 2026 Annual Exhibition: “Degrees of Contact”.

Chema is a multidisciplinary artist based in Glasgow. Working on monumental, untreated surfaces with reclaimed agricultural plastics, graphite, scrap metal, and found materials, he creates installations that emerge through regional reclamation, scale, and repeated encounters with industrial landscapes.

Interested in how material traces connect working-class histories and environmental realities across European borders, they approaches sculpture and surface as a space of quiet reflection rather than passive consumption.

ArtEN is pleased to present the work of Anna Pakosz, currently on view in our 2026 Annual Exhibition: “Degrees of Contact”.

Rooted in a post-communist Eastern European context, Anna Pakosz’s practice is a rigorous form of material reclamation. Working with unstretched fabrics that migrate between environments, she disrupts traditional techniques using bleach and rust to explore how raw materials carry psychological weight and resist fixed meaning. Approaching the canvas with a “beginner’s mind,” her kinetic, whole-body gestures record a series of physical encounters and energetic discharges. Each painting captures a constant flux between the accidental and the intentional. By embracing this cycle of control and surrender, Pakosz questions established material hierarchies, opening space for new structural possibilities and a deeper observation of cultural value.

ArtEN is pleased to present the work of Albano Hernández, currently on view in our 2026 Annual Exhibition: “Degrees of Contact”.

Albano Hernández’s practice operates at the intersection of perception, material value, and sustainability. Deeply influenced by the visual culture of the meat industry in his native Ávila, Spain, Hernández critiques how the industrial packaging and processing of everyday commodities fundamentally alter our visual consumption. Operating under a strict zero-waste methodology, he collapses traditional mark-making into mechanical production. By sculpting physical “brushstrokes” from air-dry clay, fragmenting them through a commercial food slicer, and methodically arranging the cross-sections, his work challenges both the historical weight of painting and the exhausting realities of mass consumerism.

ArtEN is pleased to present the work of Yewon Lee, currently on view in our 2026 Annual Exhibition: “Degrees of Contact”.

Yewon Lee’s practice operates from the understanding that identity is an active, fluid state, continually shaped by the social and cultural environments we move through. Combining high material sensitivity with intuitive image-making, she works directly with Hanji paper and the unpredictable behavior of ink. By tearing, layering, and reassembling fragments, Lee allows irregular textures and forms to emerge, introducing pastel, pencil, and charcoal gradually to trace the contours of interior landscapes. Through these layered spaces, hybrid figures surface, drawing loosely from myth, folklore, and oral tradition to rework symbolic elements into a deeply personal visual language. Her images hold vital moments of transition, reflecting identity as something continuously in motion, built through encounter and reinterpretation.
