GEAR LOCKER PART 6:
Manufacturer: Akari Ordnance
Designation: MX-36
MSRP: 6500 Stacks as of 2287
Type: Ballistic
Cartridge: 5.27x40mm “Oni”
Designed in early 2278 the MX-36 was designed in an effort to take over a new DISE contract aimed at replacing their aging NR37 rifles. Despite it being one of the best rifles on the market even 20 years later, it was never picked up by the USG citing the weapon as being “far too expensive for standard issue usage”. Overtime the only people ever seen using this rifle were either contractors with money to burn, Akari Zaibatsu affiliates, or operators belonging to {REDACTED}. During their 500,000 round testing period only a mere ten malfunctions are allowed. Anything higher and the weapon is scrapped. Because of this the MX-36 proves itself to be an incredibly reliable system for those with the capital to afford it. Adorned with the moonflower that has become synonymous with the Akari Zaibatsu, just looking at its mag well reminds shooters of the level of quality they hold in their hands.
This was a fun one to make! This particular weapon took a lot of inspiration from the MCX LVAW for its rail system and the G36 for its action and it came out beautifully. Using a spuhr inspired mount for the magnifier, it really helps to tie together the side profile of the weapon system. .gunsmith did an incredible job on this setup and we have a lot more planned here soon!
