We decided to visit Shiraito Falls (白糸の滝) with only 2 hours before sunset. We were fortunate to catch the 1hr journey on the final train and connecting bus ride to the southwestern foothills of Mount Fuji. It is one the most beautiful waterfalls in Japan. The 150 m wide cascade is derived from the melting snow from My. Fuji with the white streams that resemble hanging threads of silk - hence its name. By the time we arrived, there was only one other couple taking photos. This site is normally packed with tourists in the day and afternoon. So, in a way arriving this late granted us the opportunity to enjoy it fully in the absence of other people.

The weather around Mt. Fuji changes very rapidly with the clouds. I find the best probability of getting a clear view of the mountain is at early morning when the temperature isn’t as hot which tends to draw in the clouds. I visited several famous lookout points and to some historical locations like Oshino Hakkai (忍野八海). It is a small village in the Fuji Five Lake region (8 in total), located between Lake Kawaguchiko and Lake Yamanakako. The snow melt from Mt. Fuji helps to feed the eight ponds. There are several restaurants, souvenir shops and food stalls selling local foods and crafts.
The view of Mt. Fuji at the famous Lawson Store and at the Fujisan Yumeno Ohashi Bridge (Great Dream Bridge) was completely obscured by clouds. Good tip: you can rent a regular. bicycle from the Shin-Fuji Station Tourist Centre for only 200¥ for a day a ¥800 for a battery assisted bike. It makes getting around the area fun and healthy. Fortunately, I was able to get a partial outline of
Mt. Fuji at the Hikawa Click Shop street.

One of my bucketlist shots that I needed to get was at this tranquil park. I recommend wearing running shoes in preparation of the 398 stair step ascent and running towards the summit to view the five story pagoda, Mt. Fuji and Fujiyoshida City. The weather here in the mountains changes rapidly. One moment it was cloudy then clear and sunny and even rainy. But, it was a refreshing and welcoming relief from the hot 35C.

The easiest way to arrive at the Arakuryama Sengen Park is to take the 40-minute Chuo Line train from Takao Station to Otsuki. From there, ride the Fuji Kyuko Line and get off at Shimoyoshida Station to begin your trek up.

One of my highlights in Tokyo was capturing the Shinkansen at several locations in the city. The KITTE Marunouchi Mall 6F provides a wonderful terrace view of Tokyo Marunouchi Station. My favourite spot is at the Tokyo Kotsu Kaikan Mall 3F terrace next to Yurakucho Station. Note it opens at 8:00am, but closes early at 4:30pm. I also took the Shinkansen to several cities including Shin-Fuji, Nagoya and Kyoto. I recommend reserving your seats online at https://smart-ex.jp/en/index.php. You can select your seats (window/aisle) and choose the oversize luggage section if travelling with large suitcases. Sitting on the right side window will provide the view of Mt. Fuji when heading west to Shin-Fuji.

The Hiriji Bridge offers unique views of the Kanda River. One of the highlights is capturing the passing three different train lines arriving at Ochanomizu and Shin-Ochanomizu train stations.
