Two incense fragrances born from the earth and stone of Okurayama.

Made with “Okurayama Jakudo” and stone powder from “Datekanmuri Stone,” each incense offers a quiet, profound fragrance that reflects the unique character of its material.

Through a collaboration with Tokyo Kodo, Okurayama Studio has created these two incense fragrances. They will be available for purchase at the exhibition “EARTH AND STONE.”

We invite you to experience the scents of earth and stone nurtured by the land.

大蔵山の土と石から生まれた、二つの香り。

「大蔵寂土」と「伊達冠石」の石粉を用い、それぞれの素材が持つ個性を映し出す、奥深い香りに仕上げました。

大蔵山スタジオと東京香堂との協業によって生まれた二種類のお香は、展覧会「EARTH AND STONE」の会場にて販売いたします。

大地に育まれた、土と石の香りをぜひお楽しみください。

As late summer gives way to early autumn, SMP GALLERY is pleased to present a solo exhibition by Takasuke Yamada.
As the fifth-generation head of Okurayama Studio, home to Date-Kanmuri Stone, Yamada has cultivated his artistic sensibility through a life devoted to caring for the mountain and engaging in a continuous dialogue with stone.
For this exhibition, he works with materials including Date-Kanmuri Stone and Okura Sabi Earth, exploring the nature of Miyagi and the memories of the earth and traces of time embedded within Mt. Okurayama.
Through paintings and sculptural objects, Yamada gives form to the cyclical relationship between earth and stone—materials that emerge from, return to, and continually reshape the landscape.

晩夏から中秋へと移ろう季節、SMP GALLERYにて、山田能資 個展を開催します。 伊達冠石（ダテカンムリイシ）を産出する大蔵山スタジオの5代目として、山田 能資は 山を守り、石と対話する日々の中で、自身の内なる感性を研ぎ澄ましてきました。本展では、伊達冠石や大蔵寂土などの素材を用い、宮城の自然、大蔵山に息づく大地の記憶や時間の痕跡をテーマに制作。「土と石」の循環する関係性を、絵画やオブジェを通して表現します。

We were honoured to install a series of Date Kanmuri Stone objects in the entrance and courtyard of YAMAUCHI – No.10 FAMILY OFFICE – KYOTO OFFICE.

The space embodies a quiet commitment to nurturing values that enrich people’s lives and carrying them forward into the next generation. Within this setting, we placed Date Kanmuri Stone, formed through geological activity approximately 20 million years ago.

Preserving the natural contours and expressions shaped over its immense history, each stone was carefully composed to respond to its particular surroundings.

At the entrance, the stone serves as a quiet presence welcoming those who arrive. In the courtyard, it becomes part of an ever-changing landscape, resonating with the light, planting and architecture.

Stone containing the memory of deep time meets a place devoted to creating new value for the future. We hope this encounter brings a lasting sense of richness to the relationship between people and space.

YAMAUCHI – No.10 FAMILY OFFICE 京都オフィスのエントランスおよび中庭に、伊達冠石によるオブジェを設置致しました。

人の心や暮らしを豊かにする価値を育み、次の時代へとつないでいく。その静かな意志が息づく空間に、約2,000万年前の地質活動によって生まれた伊達冠石を据えています。

大蔵山スタジオがコンセプトの立案からデザインまで一貫して手掛けた永代供養墓。

空間の中心には、縦長に据えられた楕円形のアートピースを設置しています。床には鏡面磨きを施すことで、その姿が床面に映り込み、∞（インフィニティ）を想起させる象徴的な造形が静かに浮かび上がります。この意匠は、仏教における無限性や輪廻の思想を空間として表現したものです。

また、空間を囲む壁面は円弧を描く形状とし、仏教の教えが水面に広がる波紋のように、人から人へと静かに伝わっていく様子を表現しています。

建築、素材、光、そして造形が一体となることで、この空間は単なる礼拝の場ではなく、仏教の世界観を五感で体感するための空間としてデザインされています。

An eternal memorial space designed by Okurayama Studio, from concept development through to design.

At the center of the space, a vertically positioned oval art piece is installed. The floor is finished with a mirror-polished surface, allowing its form to be reflected on the ground, quietly revealing a symbolic composition that evokes the idea of ∞ (infinity). This design expresses, as spatial form, the Buddhist concepts of boundlessness and the cycle of rebirth.

The surrounding walls are shaped in gentle arcs, representing the way Buddhist teachings spread from person to person like ripples expanding across the surface of water.

Through the integration of architecture, materials, light, and form, this space is designed not merely as a place of worship, but as an environment in which the worldview of Buddhism can be experienced through all five senses.

貴船の静かな自然と祈りの空気の中で、伊達冠石が息づく佇まいをぜひ体感していただければ嬉しく思います。　

SANTASSE at KIFUNE 2026, currently taking place around Kifune Shrine in Kyoto, features a stone garden conceived by Ōkurayama Studio, which can be experienced at Okunomiya (the Inner Shrine) of Kifune Shrine.

Within the quiet natural surroundings of Kifune and its atmosphere of prayer and contemplation, we would be delighted if you could experience the presence of Date-Kanmuri Stone and the unique sense of tranquillity it brings to the space.
