Hybrid creatures, porous trails and forests of strokes. A coincidence from the past returns to the present deliberately, three artists meet again and dialogue through their creations. These are the works of Nelly Agassi (USA), Ander Azpiri (Mexico) and Hidekazu Tanaka (Japan). In the purest surrealist style, animals, objects and plants are configured in Agassi's collages, resulting in beings that are as surprising as they are elegant. This new imaginary develops under minimalist constellations of holes, a series of graceful clues that Azpiri has left on paper. Likewise, as if it were a landscape, Tanaka's expressive strokes suggest an arbitrary calligraphy that captures and delights with vivid points of color.
The marked language of each of the artists surprises with their complicity when it comes to building this particular wonderland. The shapes stimulate the imagination of those who observe, making us relive memories of a tender past that we thought forgotten. In this sense, the dialogue with emptiness is of special interest. It is true that, in all three cases, the artless backgrounds direct our attention to the elements that inhabit them. However, it is equally necessary to think about what is absent, that which, without being there, accompanies the figures and forms that appear. Only in this way will we be able to be part of this fantastic and subtle encounter.
