30 years since the Great East Japan Earthquake
I am sorry for the delay, but I would like to wish you a happy new year. Since the beginning of this year, there have been many tragic disasters, such as the earthquake in Noto, Japan, and the airplane fire at Haneda. I would like to express my deepest sympathy to those who have suffered and lost their lives.
Although I have been updating my Instagram stories, I was at a loss to greet the New Year, which is not a "Happy New Year" at all, so I could not greet you all.
The morning of the 29th year was calm. It was a little cold, but the days have been milder than last year. I think now that a long time has passed since then. I was 17 at the time and will turn 47 this year. I am surprised that so much time has passed.
What I remember is the sea of fire that spread to the schoolyard where we evacuated. The aftershocks, the rumbling of the earth. I shudder to think that the shaking will come again.
Of course, earthquakes and wars may happen in the future, but I hope that the world will be a place where people can live normally. People often say that the Nankai Trough earthquake is near, but even so, I hope that peaceful life will continue for as long as possible.
That is how I feel in my 29th year. Next year will be 30 years. Please pray that this year will be peaceful after this. The photo is of the Luminarie under construction. I take today's photo as one that will be constructed in the future.
