代々金工の家で育たれた加藤先生は若い頃よりさまざまな技術を習得され、86歳の今も尚独自の作品を制作されつづけておられます。この度、当ギャラリーでは小さなものから大きな作品までご出展いただきます。ぜひ加藤先生の集大成とも言える「彫金の世界」へお運びいただきご高覧くださいますようご案内申し上げます。
The Art of Tadao Kato
Building upon the hammering and chasing techniques refined under the guidance of his father and the master Takashi Osuga, Tadao Kato incorporates unique motifs that embody a spirit of cherishing all life.
His representative works employ koniku-bori (high-relief carving), a process where patterns are hammered out from the reverse side on a sandbag and meticulously finished from the front using chisels and pine resin. The distinctive, rounded hammer marks on the surface—a signature technique developed through years of trial and error—give his gold, silver, and copper pieces a unique, soulful texture. We invite you to experience the exceptionally refined, deep-rooted metalwork techniques and the warm, poetic expression imbued in each of his creations.
