🇵🇪 PERU EARTHQUAKE UPDATE — AUGUST 20, 2026
A powerful earthquake struck southern-central Peru, near Coracora in the Ayacucho region, on August 20.
📍 Magnitude: Reports differed, with the USGS estimating 6.7 and Peru’s Geophysical Institute reporting 7.2.
🌎 Depth: Approximately 67–108 km, depending on the source.
🙏 Casualties: No deaths, injuries, or major damage were initially reported.
🌊 Tsunami: No tsunami warning was issued for the Peruvian coast.
⚠️ IMPORTANT CORRECTION: The video previously published with this post does NOT show the August 20 Peru earthquake. Followers and residents helped identify that the footage was actually from the magnitude 7.4 earthquake in Colombia on August 10.
