A powerful earthquake struck southern-central Peru, near Coracora in the Ayacucho region, on August 20.

📍 Magnitude: Reports differed, with the USGS estimating 6.7 and Peru’s Geophysical Institute reporting 7.2.
🌎 Depth: Approximately 67–108 km, depending on the source.
🙏 Casualties: No deaths, injuries, or major damage were initially reported.
🌊 Tsunami: No tsunami warning was issued for the Peruvian coast.

⚠️ IMPORTANT CORRECTION: The video previously published with this post does NOT show the August 20 Peru earthquake. Followers and residents helped identify that the footage was actually from the magnitude 7.4 earthquake in Colombia on August 10.

OSAMA BIN LADEN: A DARK CHAPTER IN MODERN HISTORY

The giant squid (Architeuthis dux) is one of the most mysterious animals on Earth.

Living hundreds of meters beneath the surface, it can reach around 40 feet (12 meters) in length. Its enormous eyes—among the largest in the animal kingdom—help it detect faint light in the deep ocean.

For centuries, sailors told stories of terrifying sea monsters. The giant squid may have helped inspire some of those legends.

Scientists didn’t capture the first confirmed footage of one alive in its natural habitat until 2006.

And even today, much of its life remains a mystery.
