LA new has been released.
“Use of lacquer collected from Toxicodendron succedaneum for the Neolithic lacquerware detected in Zhejiang Province of China”

Lacquer coatings of lacquerware excavated from four Neolithic sites in Zhejiang Province, China (Tianluoshan, Liangzhu–Bianjiashan, Liangzhu–Zhongjiagang, and Huyinqiao) were analyzed using Py-GC/MS and radiocarbon dating.

The results revealed that, contrary to previous theories, lacquer derived from the lacquer tree (Toxicodendron succedaneum) was used in Zhejiang Neolithic lacquerware for approximately 3,000 years.

A new has been released.
“Oligomer pyrolyzates of multicomponent acrylate ester copolymers and monomer composition ratios Part 1: Identification of oligomers using TOFMS and structural analysis software”

Pyrolysis (Py-)GC/MS is an effective technique for the compositional analysis of polymeric materials.
The oligomer pyrolyzates of a multicomponent copolymer reflect the monomer composition, and their structural analysis is essential in the characterization of copolymers.
However, elucidating the structures of oligomer pyrolyzates by MS remains a challenging task.

This note describes the identification of oligomer pyrolyzates of a multicomponent acrylate copolymer using time-of-flight mass spectrometry (TOFMS) together with a structural analysis software program.

Introducing a featured .
“Catalytic fast pyrolysis of rice straws over ZSM-5 catalysts using a Tandem µ-Reactor”

About 9.6 million tons of domestic rice straws are produced annually, and about 10% of them are used for feedstuff, while the remaining 90% are used as organic fertilizer or incinerated. On the other hand, rice straws can be used as feedstock to obtain value-added chemicals.

In this report, the gases generated by the pyrolysis of rice straws in helium were converted into aromatic hydrocarbons over ZSM-5 catalysts with varied SiO2 /Al2O3 ratios, and the amounts of aromatic hydrocarbons produced were determined.

“Development of Tandem µ-Reactor-GC/MS system that allows for rapid screening and evaluation of catalysts ”

The characterization of a catalyst can be time-consuming, expensive and often requires a sophisticated pilot scale catalytic reactor.

This report describes a new bench-top analytical system that is specifically designed for the rapid evaluation of catalysts in varied chemical and physical environments.

A new has been released.
“Exploration of Source-Specific Markers for Secondary Microplastics Derived from Polyolefin-Coated Fertilizers”

Analysis of polyolefin-coated fertilizers commonly used in Japanese agriculture revealed that characteristic chemical compounds such as fatty acids and levoglucosan are effective marker substances for identifying microplastics that originate from these fertilizers. Using this marker-based identification framework,14 out of 15 white plastic particles collected from agricultural soil were found to originate from polyolefin-coated fertilizers.
This study presents a practical approach that contributes to identifying the sources of agricultural microplastic pollution.

Carrier Gas Selector (CGS-2050E)

An inert gas, such as helium (He), is generally used as a carrier gas for pyrolysis GC. However, recently air is often used as a carrier gas in Py-GC study of environmental pollution control. Theoretically, air can be used in the present devices, but it requires professional expertise and careful modification of devices.
The “Carrier Gas Selector” allows switching of gases such as He and air interchangeably while it is connected to the pyrolyzer.

The new Carrier Gas Selector (CGS-2050E) retains the core performance of the previous model (CGS-1050Ex) while offering enhanced operability and ease of use.

A new has been released.
“Determination of monomer compositions of acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesives by pyrolysis GC/MS”

The monomer composition of acrylic copolymers for pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSAs) has a significant impact on physical properties such as adhesion and peelability.

In this note, three-component acrylic copolymers with varying monomer ratioscomprising butyl acrylate (BA), 2-ethylhexylacrylate (2EHA), and 2- hydroxyethylacrylate (2HEA) were analyzed by pyrolysis (Py-) GC/MS to assess whether the monomer compositions of acrylic PSAs can be determined from the relative peak intensity of acrylic monomers compared to an internal standard (IS).

Introducing a trending .

This video features a seminar focusing on the issue of microplastics (MPs) in the environment.
It introduces analytical methods for detecting MPs in air, water, and soil samples.
The seminar also explains how Py-GC/MS is an effective technique for the qualitative and quantitative analysis of MPs.
