Finally got the day 1 video edited of our Japan Game Hunting Adventure. We started in Osaka and spent 2 weeks travelling Japan, doing nothing but game hunting. For those who are looking to go to Osaka, Den Den Town is the most central place to hunt. So feel free to check it out, and there is much, much more content on the way.

Yesterday’s adventure took us out of Nagoya and into Gifu’s stunning mountain plateau, a place we’d never explored before — and wow, it did not disappoint.
We stumbled across a new chain called Treasure Bomb, and honestly… it lived up to the name. A wild mix of retro video games, collectibles, toys, clothing, and hidden gems everywhere you look.

But the real surprise hit came from Book-Off, where I scored a stack of promo shirts and some unexpected finds that made the whole trip worth it.

This haul is something special — can’t wait to share the pickups in an upcoming post. Japan continues to deliver magic.

This is another rare Sega related item I thought I would never see. The Pioneer LaserActive which contained an expansion port that allowed you to play Sega Mega Drive and Mega CD games. With a PAC module it also became a console. So cool. It was estimated that only 10’000 units were sold and it is now super expensive to obtain as a collector item.

Did you know that the Sega Master System Phaser was based off this?

A random Japanese exclusive Xbox Original game that I don’t think would ever be accepted in the west. I would love to find the big box for this.

Day 6 of game hunting in Japan and my first post of the trip. Man what a wild ride it’s been. Today we didn’t top our best day for most stores visited but we did hit 6 retro video game stores around Nagoya. After spending almost $2000 yesterday I was glad to slow down. However, today we saw some rare pieces I have never seen in real life like the Pioneer Laser Active, a laser disc player that has an expansion port that allows you play Sega Mega Drive games on it. The Apple PinPin, Apples failed attempt to enter the console market in the 90s which only had a three year life span. A boxed ROB the Robot which was unfortunately missing the battery cover. I did get some great pickups though including a boxed Sega Saturn This Is Cool controller, vintage 1993 all over print Xmen T-shirt, Virtua Racing for the Sega 32X and much more. Stay tuned as tomorrow we hit the Gifu area. Can we beat our record of 12 stores in one day. Challenge accepted.

I can’t believe I am seeing this with my own eyes. I have always wanted to see them both but never thought it would happen.

I am afraid to admit how much I spent at in case the wife finds out.

was a Sega kids dream. I have never seen so much Sega in my life. Do you know about some the rarer items?

Nagoya truly showing love to the Xbox family. This is the most Xbox games I have seen in one store SO FAR! I hope there is a store that tops this. We need more Japanese Xbox in our lives.
