夫の祖父は柳川で教師をしていた。
校長先生でもあった。

私はお会いしたことはないが、芸術をこよなく愛した人だったようだ。

昭和40〜50年代頃の画帳が数多く残されている。
そこにはスケッチや詩、日記のような文章が綴られている。

保存状態の良いものは親戚の方へ送ったが、まだ何冊もの画帳が私の　アトリエに残っている。

画帳には昭和の暮らしや学校の様子も記されていて、時代の記録にもなっている。

1990年代
定番だった白い額縁

当時、背伸びをして買ったものの、私の絵はまだ拙く、この額縁にはそぐわなかった

久しぶりに取り出して、
手元にあったサムホールの作品を入れてみる

1990s
A classic white frame from those days.
I stretched my budget to buy it, but my paintings were still immature, and never seemed quite worthy of the frame.

Recently, I took it out again and placed a small painting I had on hand inside.
Some things need time.

アトリエの片隅には
未完成の絵がたくさんあります

そもそも完成とは
どういうことなのだろう

死ぬ時は「完」なんだと思うけれど
生きているうちに
完成も解決もないのかもしれない

In one corner of the studio,
there are many unfinished paintings.
What does it even mean
for something to be complete?
Perhaps “The End”
comes only when we die.
While we are alive,
maybe nothing is ever truly finished
or fully resolved.
