Chaparral 2J '70

The Chaparral 2J is an unusual race car that competed in the 1970 SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) Can-Am series. It was nicknamed the 'vacuum cleaner' for its unique construction that places 2 fans in the rear of the body.

Driven by a secondary engine, these 2 fans pull air out from underneath the car with a strong suction force. Effectively, this was the world's first active ground effect car.

However, a change in SCCA regulations for 1971 banned the use of any secondary engines, forcing the car into retirement.

The first round of The Series took place in Milan🇮🇹 with the kicking off the season. 12 manufacturers are represented at each event, selected from the 2026 Online Series Global Manufacturer Ranking. Each round is contested by regional racers for each team. For Rd.1 Nurburgring Endurance II played host to a thrilling race. German rookie and Ferrari driver narrowly missed out on the win in what would be tiny gap between 1st and 2nd place.
