When we talk about “rock history,” we usually start in the wrong places.

Long before the legends most people name, Black women were defining distortion, harmony, stage power, protest music, and the very idea of rock frontmanship.

Rock & soul didn’t just “include” Black women.
They were built by them. Some got credit but many didn’t.
