木彫文化の継承と更新を理念とした『木学-XYLOLOGY』が2018年、近代木彫の祖・平櫛田中旧邸で開催されました。
本展は、「木」という素材を共通項に据え、木を表現する者たちに通底する根源的な問いを見つめ直すことで、木彫文化の新たな展開を促す契機とすることを意図したものです。
その後、各作家がそれぞれに木彫表現の探究を深化させ、このたび「木学 -Re（a）lize-」と題し、新たな展覧会として発表の場を設ける運びとなりました。是非ご高覧ください。
"KIGAKU - XYLOGY," an exhibition founded on the philosophy of inheriting and renewing the tradition of wood sculpture, was held in 2018 at the former residence of Denchu Hirakushi, the pioneer of modern wood carving.
This exhibition aimed to provide an opportunity to reconsider the fundamental questions underlying the practice of those who work with wood, taking "wood" itself as the common factor, and to serve as a catalyst for new developments in the culture of wood sculpture.
Since then, each participating artist has deepened their own exploration of wood carving expression, leading to the launch of a new exhibition titled "KIGAKU -Re(a)lize-" as a fresh platform for their presentations.
