Q0DE

Q0DE Q0DE isn't just about art. it's about working on displaying the art of the middle east in a new way.

Founded in 2013, QØDE is a Jordan-based art space working with some of the Middle East’s most talented emerging artists and providing a platform for their growth and development. We host and curate international exhibitions, act as an agency for up-and-coming artists and provide art-consultancy and market research focusing on contemporary art from Jordan, Syria & Iraq. We also host a blog aiming t

o spread the word about the exciting new art coming out of Jordan and the region as a whole. The artists we represent hope for more than a sold-out exhibition. They want to be celebrated for who they are, not where they are from.

This work explores the concept of witnessing in the context of genocide, where the land becomes both a repository for souls and a bridge for rebirth.
The piece addresses the bitter-sweet contrast between flowers that embody beauty and life, and the harsh reality that they have been nourished with pure blood in order to survive.

I no longer know where to begin or where it ends days go by, interviews pile up, so does disappointments but still, I try.

Every door I knocked became a mirror, showing me myself, I thought I’d finally understood
only to leave more lost.

I painted their faces, those who shut doors.
Eyes held silent verdicts, smiles wore masks a reminder that I didn’t belong

With each painting, I tucked my anger, patted my sadness on the back rearranged the chaos within, not to look “weak”.

Then came Wanis, curled around me A cat! An animal is reminding me I exist, even when they pretend I don’t.

I watched them from a distance; they were worse.
Then realised that safety isn’t a job title, nor a nod of approval.

But even now, after all this, I still am trying.

In this evocative series, Muder Al Rawi paints a visual elegy—each image a testament to the profound strength, aching sorrow, and luminous resilience etched into the hearts of mothers who have endured the unimaginable loss of their children, immortalized as “Shahid” (martyr).

Through sculpted forms and shadow-laden contours, the series unfurls an emotional topography—love and loss coursing through every curve and hollow, transcending mere resemblance. Each work is an invitation: step into the river of sacrifice, feel the pulse of maternal lament, and dwell in the quiet, unyielding endurance of mothers whose stories are sung in the silent language of grief and devotion.

We’re excited to be featured in an editorial collection by

Farah Mashal (b. 2002, Jordan)

Based in Amman, Farah Mashal explores memory as something that doesn’t fully belong to us—something that shifts, overlaps, and quietly reshapes who we are.

Her practice moves through painting, printmaking, and drawing, tracing how moments and emotions travel between lives, making the deeply personal feel unexpectedly universal.
