وقّع مكتب اليونسكو في عمّان وسلطة منطقة العقبة الاقتصادية الخاصة اتفاقية تعاون تشكّل خطوة مهمة نحو تعزيز التنمية المستدامة، وصون التراث الثقافي والطبيعي، وتمكين الشباب، ودعم المجتمعات المحلية في العقبة ووادي رم.
وتعكس هذه الشراكة رؤية مشتركة تقوم على حماية الإرث الثقافي والطبيعي الفريد للأردن، وخلق فرص جديدة للمجتمعات المحلية من خلال السياحة المستدامة، وتنمية المهارات، وتعزيز الوعي البيئي، والمشاركة المجتمعية.
وتشمل مجالات التعاون:
✅ تطوير السياحة المستدامة
✅ تمكين الشباب وتعزيز فرص التشغيل
✅ حماية التنوع الحيوي البحري
✅ دعم جهود إدراج جبال العقبة ضمن شبكة حدائق اليونسكو الجيولوجية العالمية
✅ التعليم والتدريب المهني والتقني
✅ مبادرات التربية الإعلامية والمعلوماتية
وتؤكد هذه الشراكة أهمية العمل المشترك في بناء مستقبل أكثر استدامة وقدرة على الصمود للمجتمعات المحلية في جنوب الأردن.

UNESCO Amman Office and the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) have signed a Cooperation Agreement that marks a new chapter in advancing sustainable development, cultural preservation, environmental stewardship, and youth empowerment in Aqaba and Wadi Rum.
The partnership reflects a shared commitment to protecting Jordan’s unique cultural and natural heritage while creating new opportunities for local communities through sustainable tourism, skills development, environmental awareness, and community engagement.
Key areas of cooperation include:
✅ Sustainable tourism development
✅ Youth empowerment and employment pathways
✅ Protection of marine biodiversity
✅ Advancing the Aqaba Mountains UNESCO Global Geopark initiative
✅ Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET)
✅ Media and Information Literacy initiatives
This partnership demonstrates the power of collaboration in building a more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient future for communities across southern Jordan.

Visit our exhibition, "Portraits of Women – Beyond the Stones," at Bayt Yaish Cultural Centre in Jabal Al-Weibdeh.
The exhibition shines a spotlight on ten exceptional women from Jordan and the region who stand on the front lines of safeguarding cultural heritage.
The exhibition will run throughout June, from Sunday to Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Organised by the National Heritage Trust (Petra National Trust - PNT) and the International Alliance for the Protection of Heritage (ALIPH), and with the participation of UNESCO-Jordan.

نظّم مكتب اليونسكو في عمّان، بالشراكة مع وزارة التربية والتعليم وبدعم من الصندوق الائتماني متعدد الشركاء (كندا، إيطاليا، النرويج، وسويسرا)، تدريبًا حول التحسينات الخاصة بتخضير المدارس ضمن نظام الصيانة المدرسية الذكية (SSMM). 🌱🏫
جمع التدريب ضباط الارتباط من المدارس والمهندسين من مديريات التربية لتعزيز قدراتهم في استخدام النظام المُحسَّن لإدخال البيانات والتحقق منها وإعداد التقارير المتعلقة بمعايير تخضير المدارس والتخطيط المستدام للبنية التحتية.
تدعم هذه المبادرة جهود الأردن في تعزيز نظم تعليم مستدامة ومستجيبة للتغير المناخي، وتحسين تخطيط صيانة المدارس واتخاذ القرارات المبنية على البيانات.

UNESCO Amman, in partnership with the Ministry of Education and with support from the Multi-Partner Trust Fund (Canada, Italy, Norway, and Switzerland), conducted a training session on the green schools' new system enhancements under the Smart School Maintenance Module (SSMM). 🌱🏫
The training brought together school focal points and field engineers from the field directorates to strengthen capacities in using the enhanced SSMM system for data entry, verification, and reporting related to green schools infrastructure standards and sustainable planning.
This initiative supports Jordan’s efforts to advance climate-responsive and sustainable education systems while improving school maintenance planning and data-driven decision-making.

🌿 لقطات من زيارة وفد من الصندوق الائتماني متعدد الشركاء (كندا، إيطاليا، النرويج، سويسرا) برفقة ممثلين عن وزارة التربية والتعليم الأردنية، مدرسة حفصة بنت عمر، إحدى المدارس التجريبية ضمن مبادرة التعليم الأخضر التي تنفذها اليونسكو بالشراكة مع وزارة التربية والتعليم، وبالتعاون مع اللجنة الوطنية الأردنية للتربية والثقافة والعلوم، في إطار شراكة التعليم الأخضر.

الزيارة التي نُظمت في إطار برنامج شراكة دعم النظام أبرزت كيفية مساهمة دعم اليونسكو لوزارة التربية والتعليم في تهيئة بيئات تعلّم أكثر استدامة، وتعزيز مشاركة الطلبة، بما يتماشى مع ركائز شراكة التعليم الأخضر،

🌿 A delegation representing Multi-Partner Trust Fund Members: Canada, Italy, Norway, and Switzerland, alongside representatives from Jordan’s Ministry of Education, visited the Hafsa Bint Omar School, one of the pilot schools under the Greening Education initiative implemented by UNESCO in partnership with the Ministry of Education, and in collaboration with the National Commission for Education, Science and Culture in line with the Greening Education Partnership.

The visit, organized within the framework of the Systems Strengthening Partnership Programme (SSP), highlighted how UNESCO’s support has helped the MoE advance greener learning environments and student engagement in line with the pillars of the Greening Education Partnership.

This visit highlights a shared commitment to advancing quality education that fosters environmental awareness and empowers students to lead sustainable change.
