Welcome to our first edition of Alwan International Children’s Festival where the fun never ends in a colourful celebration of childhood from the 23rd to the 25th of September.

Are you interested in being part of Alwan 2026? Apply to our open call by filling the application form (link in bio). We are looking for the most exciting shows and experiences from around the world for our children and families. We urge you to read the description and criteria at the beginning of the form before filling it out to determine if your show fits the festival’s nature. If you have any questions do not hesitate to message us. We can’t wait to see what you can bring to Alwan making it the happiest time of the year. Deadline for application March 30.

فريق المتحف والمتطوعين، قد ما حكينا شكرًا ما بيكفي. وقفتكم معنا واحد واحد بالدعم المعنوي والعملي. فريق الصيانة الجبار، فعلياً هلكناكم معنا، من مظلية الكروشيه والشعبطة بالشمس ساعات، لطلابتنا اللي ما بتنتهي لآخر دقيقة، حملتوا المهرجان عكتافكم. فريق الفن والتعليم شو بدنا نحكي على تنفيذ أحلى انشطة وأفكار وتنسيق بكل مهنية رفع عنا حمل كبير، الأطفال كانوا مش ملحقين… فريق الميسرين ابدعتوا أبدعتوا أبدعتوا كل الناس علقوا قديش طريقة التعامل بتجنن وتحملتوا مسؤولية كل نشاط بكل حب وشغف من معروضة الدمى اللي اهتميتوا فيها بشغف، للمهرج العملاق اللي درتوا بالكم عليه، للألعاب الخشبية الي شاركتوا الأطفال باللعب فيهم. فريق المتطوعين مش معقول التنظيم ، ادارة الفريق، الالتزام، كتير كتير كان تعاملكم مع الأطفال ولا أروع. فريق الاستقبال ، و فريق المشتريات والمحاسبة والسوشال ميديا والأمن والنظافة شكراً على كل الدعم غلبناكم معنا كتير …متحف الأطفال أروع شراكة بالعالم، بتخلونا نحس انه المتحف بيت ألوان الدافئ الجميل. شكراً من القلب لكل شخص فرداً فرداً إدارةً وفريق ومتطوعين.

Crochet installation

This installation was handmade by three wonderful women: Mona Jaber , Dunia and Um Naji. Mona was the first to take the challenge when the idea was presented to her by Alwan. She committed her time to making 550 pieces! She worked non stop for almost two months on perfecting every piece. We then were able to add 70 more pieces through the help of Dunia Yassin and Um Naji from Mahes. Um Suhaib and Dunia worked tirelessly for two days on attaching the pieces together to form this gorgeous canopy. The pattern was designed by our very own Yara 🥰

It is a project that has been on our mind since we first encountered a project in South America where women join forces to create beautiful canopies of colour. These canopies bring joy and happiness to the heart at the time when our souls are in dire need for joy.
تم تنفيذ هذا التركيب يدويًا من قِبل ثلاث نساء رائعات: منى جبر، دنيا، وأم ناجي. كانت منى أول من قبل التحدي عندما عرضت عليها الفكرة من قبل “ألوان”. كرّست مي يفارب شهرين من وقتها لصنع ٥٥٠ قطعة! عملت بلا كلل لإتقان كل قطعة. ثم تمكّنا من إضافة ٧٠ قطعة بمساعدة دنيا ياسين وأم ناجي من ماحص. قامت ام صهيب و دنيا على مدى يومين بتشبيك القطع مع بعضها لتكوين هذه المظلية الفنية الجميلة.
هذا المشروع كان حاضرًا في أذهاننا منذ أن صادفنا لأول مرة مشروعًا في أميركا الجنوبية، حيث تتعاون النساء لصنع مظلات جميلة ملوّنة. هذه المظلات تبعث الفرح والسعادة في القلب، في الوقت الذي تكون فيه أرواحنا في أمسّ الحاجة للبهجة.

We regret to inform you that the Palestine Circus School will not be participating in Alwan due to the border closure by the Israeli Occupation. We are so angry that this basic right of movement is stolen from Palestinians at whim. Not only was our public looking forward watching the PCS, but also our performing groups are deeply disappointed and sad as they were really looking forward to meeting them and making connections
