Curated by kheal’s These factors affect our way of life in the Caribbean.

Inception is a group exhibition that signifies our perceptions and experiences of society. Under the theme Power, Disruption and Evolution the objective is to emphasize through personal experiences, the influences of religion, socio-economic, political factors and evolution regarding the search for one's own identity. One of the major historical disruptions is religion. Power is relational and comes from all segments of a society. The particular identity of the Caribbean lies in its history of colonial exploitation and the correspondent evolution of a multi racial creole society divided by ethnicity, color and class. Individuals have also discovered that the search for one's own identity requires an examination of the institution which has helped to shape that identity.

Jason Arday: Beyond the Headlines

The death of Professor Jason Arday has left behind more questions than answers.

Once celebrated as Cambridge’s youngest Black professor, Arday’s journey was extraordinary. He reportedly learned to speak at 11 and read and write at 18 before eventually reaching one of the world’s most prestigious universities.

In recent weeks however, his name became associated with allegations surrounding his academic record. Cambridge announced an investigation, and Arday resigned from his position.

Days later, he was found dead at his home in south London.

His death has now sparked a much wider conversation about academic accountability, institutional responsibility, race, media scrutiny and the consequences of turning complex human lives into public spectacles.

The allegations deserve to be investigated.

Universities must be accountable.

But perhaps we should also ask ourselves something else:

When does accountability become public punishment?

Jason Arday’s story should not be reduced to the controversy surrounding the final days of his career.

Before the headlines, there was a man who overcame extraordinary obstacles to become a professor at Cambridge.

His legacy — and the circumstances surrounding his death — deserve careful examination, not instant judgment.

What do you think?

EXHIBITION FEATURE — THE CULTURAL COLOURS AND FIBRES OF JAMAICA

Lucille’s work continues to challenge, document, and reframe conversations around identity, history, and the lasting impact of colonial systems on culture and knowledge. Her research explores how colonial renaming and the erasure of indigenous plant identities mirror the wider erasure and denigration of African identity, spirituality, and relationships with the environment.

Through this body of work, Lucille invites viewers to reconsider the systems that shaped our modern social and economic realities while reconnecting with histories and knowledge systems that were intentionally suppressed.

For those interested in experiencing the exhibition more deeply, private viewing and artist talk tickets are available through the invitation link below.

Where creativity begins- even with chalk.
Students of Thompson Town High School explored form, texture, and expression through simple materials, proving that powerful art doesn’t require perfection — just vision.

Kheal’s Post continues to highlight and support the next generation of Jamaican creatives.”

Different time. Different people. Same creative force.

Inside the Gold Museum you realize art was never just art, it was power, belief and identity.

Respect to the hands that made these long before us.

UPDATE: The Missing Work

Weeks ago, I shared that one of my artworks had gone missing after being left in the care of someone I trusted—an artist. Over time, I was passed from him to his sister, and then from his sister to his brother, all in an effort to recover a single artwork. For years, I have been asking for this piece to be returned, and on several occasions I requested simple confirmation of its condition, photos, proof that the work was safe, but these requests were repeatedly refused. This week, I made arrangements to retrieve the work in Kingston; after traveling and coordinating, I was redirected, delayed, and ultimately left without the piece. Today, after further effort, the artwork was finally released, but what followed is deeply disturbing. The work was not handled with care and was reportedly thrown from a vehicle onto the ground; by the time it was recovered, the surface had been visibly damaged and smudged, with critical areas of the painting compromised. After years of being withheld, the work was returned in a destroyed state. This is not how art is treated. This is not how trust is handled. I am documenting everything and proceeding carefully and responsibly, but let it be known: this is the vehicle that arrived with the artwork, and the piece was left on the ground outside in the rain after years of being withheld and after multiple requests to confirm its condition were ignored. This is how the work was returned. Documentation continues. This situation has escalated beyond a missing artwork, and further action will follow. REPOST

The room was alive—with movement, quiet conversations, and moments of pause.

Art doing what it’s meant to do: pulling people in, holding attention, and opening space for reflection. Every corner carried a story, and every viewer became part of the narrative.

Narratives of Migration wasn’t just on the walls—it was in the room, in the air, in the way people stood and looked a little longer.
