The history of Sound System in Jamaica
African Symbol interview [episode 2]
In the early 1980s, when the sound system speaker settings were flat.
African Symbol Sound System created the first "column setting" in Jamaica whitch stack up a large number of speaker boxes high in the sky.
And its origin was also the creator of the drum sound.
He spoke us the untold story of the time.

ジャマイカ　サウンドシステムの歴史を語るインタビュー
ジャマイカの80年代に活躍した伝説のAfrican Symbol サウンド。
80年代初頭にサウンドシステムを始めたころ、ジャマイカにはベニヤ板が普及しておらず、ドラム缶にスピーカーでを入れてドラム缶サウンドシステム（ジョンパンサウンド）を制作。だが、他の多くのサウンドシステムからあざけられ、ドラム缶サウンドを閉めた。
悔しい気持ちをバネに、自分のサウンドをあざけったやつらを見返すと誓い、ベニヤ板がジャマイカに普及し始めたのを機に、多数のスピーカーボックスを制作。
その数は60箱を超えた。

少年時代、お母さんの経営する食料品店で初めてレコードをプレイして以降、小さなサンドシステムを作り、その後、ドラム缶を使ったユニークなサウンドシステムを発案。
Drum Pan Sound、それは後に、サウンドクラッシュのディス・ワードとして広まった。

Interview about the history of Jamaican sound system
The legendary African Symbol sound that was active in Jamaica in the 80's.
When the sound system was started in the early 80's, plywood was not popular in Jamaica, and Drum Pan sound system was created by putting speaker in a drum can.
However, it was mocked by many other sound systems and he decided to close the drum pan sound system.
He sweared that to revenge at those who mocked his drum pan sound system, and made a large number of speaker boxes when plywood began to imported in Jamaica.
The speaker boxes number were over 60 boxes.

After playing records for the first time at his mom's grocery store as a school youth, he created a small sound system and then came up with a unique sound system using drum cans.
Drum Pan Sound, which later spread as a disword of sound crash.
