Very excited and happy to have been producing this event for one year now. It’s been an amazing thing to see the platform grow and develop into something much bigger than just an event. It’s about the expansion of the creative industry from the grass roots up and creating a networking opportunity for artists of all dimension to come together on one night to collaborate and build lasting connections with one another and with our spectrum of supportive patrons. Rooted in the epicenter of our beautiful country, it has been an honor to be at the forefront of bringing to life and transform Downtown Kingston with my partners, .rose_9rs , who on our individual journeys share this common vision. Together we are so proud to bring forth the future of DTN KGN and the next generation’s tsunami of creatives in the the beautiful setting of , who we felt, had to be the place to start this movement, as they weathered the storm and kept their doors open to create this oasis, and set president for resilience and creativity, in the midst of the madness.
All for a cause, supporting March for Music Education, we are so excited to have on board with us for our launch of our Live+Direct Segment. . Big thank you to all our contributing artists, musicians, performance painters, dancers, stylists, Videographers, photographers, graphic artists and DJs 🎶Come for the Cause🌸Stay for the Music 🎶

This is Maëlle, our Co-founder and Director of Jamaica Rising, under the Kindah Tree in Accompong Maroon Village where Nanny and Cudjoe (Kojo) would plan battle strategies and have council meetings. ’Kindah’ means family, and thats what Jamaica Rising is about, the unification of us all as one family. We have been travelling deeper into Jamaica and gathering friends, who have become family all over the island. Our Docuseries introduces the amazing people we meet on our journeys, and gives a deeper understanding of the culture and landscape of our country. Jamaica rising pulls together people who are passionate about the causes they live and lead in, and creates a unified movement for us to share their powerful contributions with Jamaica and the world. It is a call to action for us all to get involved in empowering the work of our people and celebrating their positive contributions and achievements. Our events bring together our amazing friends to one place and our culture markets created by Maëlle are designed to bring Jamaica back to her people. .my.culturegroup

The Paramount Queen of the Maroons, the beautiful and extraordinary Gaama, Gloria ‘Mama G’ Simms, Founder and Director of the Maroon Indigenous Women’s Circle, is a national treasure whose messages of National Pride ignites a flame in heart and soul of the Jamaican National Pledge itself and speaks to the very foundation of what that pledge means and our responsibility to our country to create a unified nation not just for Jamaica, but for the upliftment of the world and the entire human race.
Mama G is one of our greatest inspirations on this Journey, and a true veteran, defender, and mother to our nation. We journey with her through Charlestown and were honored to have her speak about the at our launch with
Before God and all mankind, I pledge the love and loyalty of my heart, the wisdom and courage of my mind, the strength and vigour of my body in the service of my fellow citizens; I promise to stand up for Justice, Brotherhood and Peace, to work diligently and creatively, to think generously and honestly, so that Jamaica may, under God, increase in beauty, fellowship and prosperity, and play her part in advancing the welfare of the whole human race.

Jamaica Rising: Building Bridges - Community, Experience, Share

Since 2012, Maelle Johnston creator of MaëMarkets and Crystal Furlonge founder of Upload The World have adventured through the mystical lands of Jamaica visiting and documenting inspirational places and people. Now they are bringing these communities together with Jamaica Rising, a docuseries and monthly festival that shares the creativity of Jamaican chefs, artisans, musicians and filmmakers.

This is a one of a kind video production and monthly event that empowers community and youth development. Feel the pride. You can play your part to present superior products, phenomenal people and unique healing experiences that make Jamaica a powerful contributor to the world...and we'll professionally document all of it!

The Jamaica Rising Docu-series will take you on a journey through the real Jamaica, to see the real country, to experience the real culture, and to meet and hear the voices and stories of the real people. So often we focus on the bad things in our country, when there are so many people doing wonderful and impactful things within their communities and for youth development. Jamaica Rising focuses on the extraordinary, whose every day way of life make Jamaica the beautiful, inspiring and culturally wealthy country it is. We will explore the parishes, highlighting the off the beaten track, people to see, places to go, things to do, and food to eat!

Anyone who has experienced Downtown Kingston either reminisces on, or dreams of, the former glory days of the nation's capital. For over 30 years, the disrepair and stigma that has befallen the city, and has cast a shadow that has left it forsaken for far too long. The world is in search of culture, and there are few places as beautiful and authentic as the potential of Downtown Kingston. In promoting authentic culture, Jamaica Rising presents an opportunity to join hands in supporting the redevelopment of Downtown Kingston through community engagement. We will be hosting a series of monthly events which will be carefully curated to feature people we meet on our journey through the docuseries to inspire community and youth development, and attract lovers of culture, food, art, music, and film. Join us in taking Jamaica to her People. Help us to build the bridge between commerce and community, the key to creating a unified nation, and restoring the heart and soul of Downtown to Kingston.
