Susan Alexander was one of the most beautiful souls I have ever met in this life, and I will miss her dearly.
She gave so much of herself to others, always making the time to share, guide and encourage -regardless of how she herself was feeling. That kind of generosity is rare, and Jamaica’s art fraternity has truly lost a gem.
I will never forget our 2022 exhibition at Decor VIII, where we showcased 60 pieces of Jamaican art from the 1960s. Susan went above and beyond to help track down important works so they could be part of that very special exhibition. Her passion for preserving and honouring Jamaican art was unmatched, and her contribution to our cultural landscape was immeasurable.
Susan did not just create art, she nurtured artists, protected history, and helped shape the story of Jamaican culture for generations to come.
Rest in peace dear Susan Alexander.
Your work, your kindness, and your spirit will live on forever.
