Reggae Month | it’s Kingston for February is an initiative of the Jamaican Ministry of Tourism and Entertainment. It is aimed at utilizing the unique value proposition of Reggae and the cultural significance of Reggae music and its celebration in the month of February, as an attractor to Kingston, Jamaica. February is internationally recognized for Black History Month, Heart Month, Reggae Month as

well as the birth of Reggae legends Robert Nesta ‘Bob’ Marley and Dennis Brown. Reggae Month, a hidden gem of authentic Jamaican cultural expression and interpretation, provides a springboard for the city of Kingston to come alive during February. Through events such as Trench Town Rock, the Dennis Brown Concert, Blue Mountain Music Festival and weekly Reggae in the Park events, the message of irie-ness and Reggae music is augmented by scholarly discourses on this important musical genre at the Grounation Series. The talks are held at the Institute of Jamaica, the Creative Industries Intellectual Property Conference, and the 16th Annual Bob Marley Lecture series at the University of the West Indies. From the scholar to the novice, there is something for everyone in Kingston during February.
