"Raise the Roof" was an evening of beauty and tragedy.

A range of exceptionally talented artists came together to put on a benefit concert to raise funds to rebuild a home that burned down recently.

JAIKU was honoured for the opportunity to sponsor this event through pro bono services as MC Kacy Garvey and two stirring performances by Renard Anderson and Matthew, He Wrote.

A year ago, JAIKU founder Kacy Garvey officially joined the Board of Directors of the Jamaica Copyright Licencing Agency (JamCopy), kicking off the milestone on a panel with Kwame McPherson at The JamCopy Affiliates Forum to discuss building sustainable careers for Jamaican creatives.

Afterwards, Kacy and our Director of Financial Compliance & Administration, Dujan "Prophett" Crossfield, took the stage to deliver a powerhouse performance—showing the room exactly why JAIKU poets are worth every single red cent. 🗣️🔥

Our team had a very productive and well-needed work retreat on Emancipation weekend.
Over the course of 2 days, we collaborated on fleshing out our firm's structure so that we can effectively serve the poetry community for years to come.
An organization will crumble without resilient systems and foundation. Understanding that, we're all putting in our time and presence to ensure that we can have a lasting legacy that will benefit generations of poets.
Last year was extremely successful and we hit meaningful strides. If you think our events were fun and well executed then, wait til you see what we have in store!

Thursday was beautiful blend of word, sound and power at The Jamaica Pegasus Hotel Blend Bar! Our founder Kacy Garvey cemented her connection in the jazz world with her collaboration with some of Jamaica's finest contemporary musicians. D.E.S.K. produced a lush soundscape that reflected on our history, mourned tragedy and rejoiced in the triumphs of our small, proud, resilient island. It was a melodious preamble to Emancipendence!

Our lives are dimensional stories, each moment a 3D composition in truth, revealing the authenticity of what was, what is, and what is to come.

Our panel discussion about "Dimensional Storytelling" with Dr. Amina Blackwood-Meeks at The Bookfairy Festival last Saturday closed the event with a call for each panellist to dig deep and reflect on "What my story carries".

We would like to thank The Bookfairy Festival for extending this invitation to us, and our JAIKU panellists, namely Diana Williams, Kacy Garvey and Marlon Thompson for representing us so excellently as one patron told after that the questions were heavy, but our answers made the questions easy to understand and relatable.

The JAIKU stories continue, in poetry and prose.

We copped several awards back in March at the Phoenix Awards. Phoenix Awards much gratitude to them for recognizing poetry and storytelling in Jamaica.

JAIKU was headcook and bottle washer for a beautiful, belated birthday party this past weekend!

Our Executive Assistant Ashley Allen worked tirelessly in planning the event, alongside our founder Kacy Garvey who also served as the master of ceremonies on the night.

An entire year of work (due to delays from Hurricane Melissa) culminated in a stunning evening laden with food, music and non-stop dancing courtesy of the Seasons Band!

Celebrating music, language, and culture the French way—with a distinct Jamaican frequency. 🇯🇲✨🇫🇷
Incredible night at Fête de la Musique over the weekend! From the open mic energy to the live performance on the greens of Shortwood Teacher's College, the cultural synergy was powerful.
Big gratitude to Alliance Française Jamaïque and the French Embassy for hosting a stellar showcase.

JAIKU is honoured to be commissioned by the National Blood Transfusion Services Blood Bank, Jamaica to curate an original poem to promote the worthy, urgent cause of blood donation.

We believe in the integrity of not simply using poetry to advocate for a cause, but the power of action as well. That's why our founder Kacy Garvey insisted on leading by example by participating in the NBTS Blood Drive today
