Did you miss the live yesterday? If yes, then you missed out on all the awesome interactions we had. Nevertheless, We saved the recording of digital painting of Albert Huie.

Our Black Art History Month Series Continues...

Our talented Digital Artist Anthoniel Foster was inspired to pay homage a pioneer in fine arts painting, Albert Huie. Anthoniel lamented on Huie’s tactile style of painting which created unique aesthetics in his paintings. He concluded by saying , “This is carried over into majority of his paintings, and I found that very I nteresting, so I wanted to take time to acknowledge him as a previous Jamaican Artist in Jamaica."

Our Black Art History Month Series Continues...
Check out this digital illustration created by a member of Creatove Tribe Donolee Young. She was inspired by  art style, a black Jamaica illustrator.

Donolee Young:
“Taj Francis’ work had impacted me from the moment I saw it. It’s a brilliant mixture of cultures and imagery that I never thought I would see in the Jamaican art world. His works usually feature a vivid burst of colour and swirls, so I decided to use that iconic iconography as inspiration for the piece "Leer." Doneak Pusey wrapped up this evening as he features his digital painting live in action with us.

Title of Painting: Tasteless

Doneak Pusey:
"I was inspired by the way TroyDel Wallace illustrated the gold and silver materials on his subjects. Troydel is a black Jamaican illustrator, known for his breathtaking golden illustration. I related my painting through the channeling of methods or design techniques he uses."

There is intent to be found in every intricacy, and beauty to be found in every trauma.

Few other Jamaican artists can weave sensitive topics into bold visuals with such precision as Ebony G. Patterson. The Jamaica native and past student of the Edna Manley College now divides her time between her home island and Chicago, USA. Her pieces are hypnotizingly colourful and vibrant, using a blend of tapestry, sequins, crochet, and Internet-sourced images. These visuals draw one's eye to the deeper themes of social issues such as gender, masculinity, politics, death, and childhood. Today we feature "..buried again to carry on growing", a mixed media installation from a 2015 exhibition at the Museum of Art and Design, New York. It consists of 'poisonous' artificial flowers, embellished mannequins, and custom clothing.

In 1931, in the town of Cooper's Hill, Portland, one of Jamaica's most prominent painters was born. Eugene Hyde is our first featured artist of Creative Tribe's black history month initiative. The artistic climate of Jamaica at Hyde's time was more geared towards realism art, but he is well known for his exploration of abstract and intuitive art styles. Hyde's art style is dynamic and adventurous, blending the Jamaican context with his own personal style of abstract art. In particular, Hyde's 1964 'Croton series' marks him as one of the most noteworthy abstract artists in Jamaican history.

Creative Tribe is planning and developing creative solutions to help elevate Jamaica creative industry.

As Jamaicans, art is embedded in our blood. Everything we do and every we are, is influenced by our culture. Our culture is pure art, and as visual artists, it is our job to show that to the world. It is within our purpose to continue building what our ancestors have left off. This is working together to create a future for the next generation of creators.

Join us on January 7th for our official launch. Do you want to know what we have in store? Well, see you then.
