The Caribbean energy is set to light up the DMV this summer as internationally celebrated Trinidadian group Freetown Collective joins the star-studded lineup for , promising an unforgettable fusion of music, culture, and road revelry from June 18–22.
Known for their soulful sound and powerful storytelling, the duo — Muhammad Muwakil and Lou Lyons — will headline the festival’s opening event, Release Therapy, on June 18 at Ivy City Smokehouse. Fans can expect crowd favourites including Feel The Love, Kaya, and Take Me Home as the group sets the tone for a weekend filled with freedom, connection, and nonstop Caribbean vibes.
As the celebrations continue, the action shifts to Rosecroft Raceway for two of Hookie Weekend’s most talked-about signature experiences — Riddim & Glow and Lion’s Pride J’ouvert.
Riddim & Glow returns with its high-energy fusion of Soca, neon aesthetics, and massive music trucks, creating an immersive nightlife experience under the stars. Revelers are encouraged to pull out their Monday Wear or favourite carnival looks as they dive into an all-inclusive atmosphere packed with premium drinks, world-class DJs, and vibrant visual moments designed for the ultimate fete experience.
The bacchanal reaches peak levels with Lion’s Pride J’ouvert, the festival’s explosive road celebration featuring paint, powder, foam, water, and nonstop Soca energy. This year’s theme, “Titans of Soca,” invites partygoers to embody the strength and dominance of mythical titans while embracing the pulsating spirit of Caribbean carnival culture from start to finish.
With live performances, immersive road experiences, and thousands of revelers expected to descend on the DMV, is once again shaping up to be one of North America’s premier Caribbean lifestyle and entertainment weekends.
