Silvery marmosets absolutely LOVE tree sap 👀

These clever little monkeys have specially adapted teeth that let them gouge holes into bark to reach the sweet, energy-rich sap hidden inside. It’s packed full of nutrients and is one of their favourite snacks!

Keep an eye out as you explore the zoo, or download our app to find them. Their bright silver fur and long tails make them easier to spot as they leap through the trees.

The marmosets and the other free-roaming monkeys happily come back to their indoor enclosures when called and have a routine that means they can be monitored 🩶

☀️ It’s feeling hot, hot, hot ☀️

The animals at Jersey Zoo have made the most of the weather this week, from soaking up the sun to enjoying our delicious homemade ice lollies 🧊🍦

Ice lollies are great way to provide additional enrichment for our animals when the weather is warmer, especially when they choose to leave their cooler enclosures for a spot of sunbathing!

🐾 Tandoori, L’Autre and Pic have joined the Jersey Zoo family.

The fabulous trio have moved in next to the meerkats and have already made themselves at home.

Indian crested porcupines are mostly found in Southern Asia and the Middle East, including Assam in India, where we have been working for the last 40 years to help save the Critically Endangered pygmy hog.

Did you know that bamboo contains high levels of cyanide? 😮

🐒 Greater bamboo lemurs can consume 48 times the lethal dose for their size! This is thanks to their digestive system, which has evolved to process the poison and filter it out through their urine.
