Did you know our current principal violinist Lottie also rocks the lead guitar?

Swapping the 4 strings 🎻 to her 6 strings 🎸 , Lottie will be playing with her band Hz at Simply Christmas this Sunday! Please come by to support them and local artisans at the last day of this event!

Thank you to everyone for your support this afternoon at Georgetown! Shout out to Alexander Gavey-Kingham for his first Marimba performance 👏and to his teacher Eva Hsieh 謝尹珊 YinShan Hsieh謝尹珊 YinShan Hsieh on Sejourne’s Marimba concerto. We also loved the surprise cello / marimba duet with David Davies!

Last but not least, much thanks to our conductor Emma Davies for her artistic leadership on Dvorak’s String Seranade! We are already looking forward to a new program next year ❤️

We are thrilled to have Eva Hsieh performing Sejourné Concerto No 1 for Marimba and Strings with Jersey Camerata!

Eva was born in Taiwan where she excelled as a pianist from man early age starting lessons aged 4 and giving her first public performances aged 6. Whilst attending a specialist music school Eva transferred to percussion with the marimba as her main instrument. Eva moved to the UK to study at Birmingham Conservatoire and subsequently completed a post-graduate course at the Royal College of Music, London. Eva has won both major soloist prizes at both institutions and has given numerous concerto performances in the UK and Jersey. In 2017 Eva was invited to perform at the prestigious PASIC conference at Indianapolis, USA. Eva has performed as a concerto solist with the Jersey Symphony Orchestra and several orchestras in the UK.

Eva is delighted to be performing as a solist with the Jersey Camerata for the first time.

We are very excited to have a special guest performer Alexander Garvey-Kingham for our concert at Georgetown Church on 29 November.

Alexander started playing percussion at 6 years old under the teaching of Eva Hsieh. Over the years he has performed many solo pieces whilst also taking part in several orchestral performances including the Jersey Youth Symphony Orchestra, JASTO and more recently has been invited to play with the Jersey Symphony Orchestra. When he was 12 Alexandra began his Marimba journey, grappling with the complexities of playing with four mallets. Alexander is currently preparing to showcase his skills in the PwC Jersey Young Musician of the Year competition and is working towards his Grade 8 percussion exam. For Alexander, music is not just about performances and exams, he enjoys making music for pleasure.
