What do video games have to do with politics? More than you might think…

We tend to think of gaming as entertainment. A way to switch off and escape reality. But what if video games are actually becoming one of the places where politics is shaped?

At this fascinating event, George E. Osborn will explore the hidden relationship between gaming and politics, from political influence and propaganda to the way gaming communities have become a powerful space for shaping ideas and online discourse.

You might have already seen us talking about our amazing line-up of Children’s Laureates (can you tell we’re excited?!). 🤩

Today, we’re thrilled to announce that Chris Riddell will be interviewing Michael Morpurgo about his memoir, Down Burrow Lane: Life and Love on the Farm. It’s the first time Michael has been interviewed at Jersey Festival of Words, and we’re expecting a very special evening.

And that’s not all! You can then join us as we celebrate the remarkable life and work of beloved author, poet and performer Michael Rosen, in conversation with festival favourite, Andrew Davey. He’ll reflect on a career spanning more than five decades, during which he has written more than 200 books and inspired generations of readers.

Both events are taking place at the Freedom Centre on Friday 25 September. 🙌

And as if that’s not enough, Observer cartoonist Chris Riddell will be live-drawing at two events on Saturday 26 September. ✏️
