MUSIC & SPACE | Interdisciplinary Project | Composition | Data Sonification | INTERKOSMOS was born following the passions and skills of composer and geographer Marco Varvello. INTERKOSMOS 1.0 is the name of the sonification software developed by the research team who worked on the postgraduate thesis work 'CONSTELLATIONS MUSICAL MAPS', in which musical informations were obtained from stars' constellations data, and served as thematic material to be developed in dedicated musical compositions.

LYRA /1
The first piece in which composer Marco Varvello sonifies astronomical data to generate musical information, features later merged into INTERKOSMOS software (Max for Live OPEN SOURCE patch).

The CONSTELLATIONS MUSICAL MAPS work, here performed live during the Jazz Composition postgraduate final exam with a nine-musicians group, is based on the sonification of the sky's 88 Constellations, a work in progress...
