🇬🇧 Galileo really tried to estimate the speed of light with an experiment using two lanterns placed far apart:
he would uncover his lantern, and an assistant on another hill would uncover theirs as soon as they saw the light.

The problem? The light arrived too quickly to be measured with human reaction time — so Galileo concluded it had to be extremely fast (almost “instant” on a human scale). ✨

🇦🇪 حاول غاليليو فعلًا تقدير سرعة الضوء من خلال تجربة باستخدام فانوسين على مسافة بعيدة:
كان يكشف فانوسه، وعلى تلّ آخر يقوم مساعده بكشف فانوسه فور أن يرى الضوء.

المشكلة؟ الضوء وصل بسرعة كبيرة جدًا لا يمكن قياسها بردّ فعل الإنسان، لذلك استنتج غاليليو أنه سريع للغاية (يكاد يكون “فوريًا” على مقياس البشر). ✨
