Pase

Pase experimentation is the new planning Pase is a cultural organization that explores, thinks of and takes on new art languages.

It began its journey in 2011, as it started to elaborate moments of formation, discussion and performance that are connected to contemporary music. Through the years, Pase has had the possibility to work alongside artists of various backgrounds, implicated in the worlds of art and contemporary music, by way of an involvement in the processes of curatorship, production and organization.

Una Lunghissima Ombra by Andrea Laszlo De Simone

We’re glad to have been part of Andrea Laszlo De Simone’s project, a sound meant to be seen, a light meant to be heard.

We’re interested in working with sound in space, experimenting with both standard multichannel setups and custom-built systems designed to meet the specific needs of a project, an artist, or a site. In our studio, it’s possible to develop and test sound environments for installations, performances, live electronics, site-specific works… and everything that doesn’t fit into a fixed format.

If that resonates, you’re welcome to reach out and visit the studio!

Aural Dissipation - Begehungen Art Festival | Chemnitz, European Capital of Culture 2025

Aural Dissipation is a site-specific sound installation that transforms a former industrial cooling tower into a reverberation chamber. The sound explores the various states of water — liquid, solid, and gaseous — through a live performance for harp and electronics, taking place inside the tower. Frequencies spread throughout the space via a multichannel amplification system, revealing how they accumulate, refract, and dissipate along the surfaces of the structure. A dialogue between architecture, matter, and sound, reinterpreting an industrial space as an active acoustic instrument. Pase Studio contributed to the project through sound research and development. Commissioned by Begehungen Art Festival on the occasion of Chemnitz – European Capital of Culture 2025.

Voice of Commons - Biennale Architettura 2025 | 19th International Architecture Exhibition - Venezia

Voice of Commons was conceived on the occasion of the Venice Architecture Biennale 2025, through the work of UNA/UNLESS, the studio led by architect and activist Giulia Foscari. At the heart of the project lies the restoration and reactivation of the historic ticket pavilion designed by Carlo Scarpa, transformed for the duration of the Biennale into a platform for broadcasting and listening. A space created to give voice to the Global Commons — the Ocean, the Atmosphere, Outer Space, and Antarctica — and to reflect on their condition as shared, fragile, and interdependent domains. Studio Pase curated the project’s sound identity, envisioning a collective narrative made of voices, thoughts, and diverse perspectives. Today, after the Biennale has come to an end, Voice of Commons continues to live on as a space for listening and deepening: a podcast that keeps an urgent reflection on the commons open and alive.

At Pase, we design tools that shape how sound moves through space and interacts with people. From custom interfaces to multichannel systems, our work blends software and hardware in close collaboration with artists and contexts. Flexible, reliable, made to connect, because sound isn’t just heard — it’s inhabited.

Living Lab Music 9: Paul Ramage and Simone Sims Longo
12 November 2022 | h 17 Lecture by Paul Ramage | h 19 Performance with Paul Ramage and Simone Longo

Paul Ramage is a violinist, improviser and composer. After meeting Didier Lockwood he became interested in jazz and improvised music. At the same time, he continued his studies of classical violin at the Conservatory (C.R.R) of Cergy-Pontoise, from which he graduated with a Musical Study Diploma (D.E.M) in jazz and violin. In 2013 he obtained his D.E.M in electroacoustic composition at the Paris Conservatory, in the classes of Denis Dufour and Jonathan Prager. He then obtained a Masters in electroacoustic composition at INA_GRM. Finally, he follows the Cursus in composition and computer music at IRCAM.
Composer of around fifty opuses, both acousmatic, mixed or instrumental, he has played and been performed in various countries (France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Romania, United Kingdom, Japan, United States, China…). He won the Métamorphose (Music and Research) prize, the Russolo second prize (Russolo-Pratella Foundation (Italy) / Studio Forum Annecy) and holder of the certificate of aptitude (C.A) in electroacoustic composition. He teaches composition and sound creation at the Conservatory and at the Pôle Supérieur de Paris. Today a member of Alcôme (Company for the creation in contemporary music), he works to bring creation everywhere he can.

Simone Sims Longo is a sonic and intermedia artist. His activity ranges from composition for electronic solo to sound design and sound installations. As a composer he is interested in the creation and manipulation of sound in the digital domain especially focusing on timbre. In his works he often uses a multilevel iteration of samples, investigating asynchronous and polyrhythmic variations of sound textures. Through multichannel speaker diffusion he explores the musical space and exploits the interaction of the sound with architectural elements, fascinated by the natural reverberation and by sound diffusion through different materials. He also focuses his activity on the relation between audio and video in real time, performing acts of visual music that explores the perception of audiovisual phenomena.

Living Lab Music 9: Ata Ebtekar - Sote
08 November 2022
h. 17 Lecture | h. 19 Concert
info: [email protected]

Ata 'Sote' Ebtekar composes music with a deeply-held conviction that rules and formulas should be deconstructed and rethought. He alters musical modal codes from their original tonality and rhythmic tradition to achieve vivid, synthetic soundscapes. Over the last three decades, his work has been published by labels such as Warp, Sub Rosa, Opal Tapes, Diagonal, Mute and Morphine, among others. In 2018, he founded a new label called 'Zabte Sote', which focuses on releases by Iranian experimental electronic composers from around the globe.

Known for creating compositions that range from the delicate to the abrasive, using sounds both of acoustical and electronic origins, Ebtekar sees music as the expression of cultural habits in sound and anti-sound (silence). Seeking to expand such traditions he creates music that, while rooted in many cultures at once, belongs to none in particular. Sote's work deals with various blueprints, in particular his solo all synthetic music, his electroacoustic audio/visual group project, and his multi-channel sound installations.

Sote is on the jury panel of The DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program, and has created commissioned work for and performed at a.o. Berghain and CTM Festival (Berlin), Unsound Festival (Krakow), Cafe Oto (London), Jazzhouse (Copenhagen), TodaysArt Festival (The Hague), Bozar (Brussels), Ultima Festival (Oslo), Donaufestival (Krems), Donaueschinger Musiktage, Mira (Barcelona), Terraforma (Milan), and many more.
