Leather products are luxurious.
But working with leather?
Not always.
There’s dust everywhere.
Glue on your fingers.
Threads, scraps, tools all over the table. ✂️🧵
And edge burnishing, probably the messiest part of all.
Each piece goes through my hands multiple times.
I rotate it, change sandpaper, switch tools…
Watching and listening for what the leather needs. And it takes time.
Because there’s no exact formula.
Every leather, every cover is different.
There are steps you follow, but you have to pay attention to the piece in your hands.
I don’t make them fully shiny and glossy.
It’s just not my thing.
I like my covers a bit more raw and real.
Compact, durable, made to be used and to last.
This Matte black leather especially, it leaves my hands completely dirty (and yes, I have separate studio clothes for a reason 😅)
But it’s also the kind of leather that will be your everyday companion for 30+ years.
And that’s why I choose to work this way.
Every piece goes through my hands, again and again.
Taking time.
Adjusting.
Learning.
Because in the end, these covers hold your plans, your ideas, your thoughts.
And that part… never feels ordinary.
Also, washing my hands after this part? extremely satisfying 😂
