Back in the studio after the summer, and once again finding there are so many feelings to sketch out in clay. 🤍
I’m endlessly inspired by the great female artists and potters Barbara Hepworth and Lucy Rie. I’m also very excited for the upcoming exhibition of Lucy Rie’s exquisite work at Offer Waterman’s Gallery in london — definitely one not to miss.
This piece began with a memory from Greece: watching the sunset through the rocks, as the light slipped between two separate formations. There was something about that moment — the shapes, the light, the space between — that stayed with me.
This is still very much a work in progress, but I’m enjoying watching it evolve. I’m planning to sgraffito the surface with black slip, keeping the interior simple, perhaps finished with a matt white glaze.
A little piece of Greece, still taking shape. ✨
