A gentle encounter between art and wildlife takes centre stage at the Giardini della Marinaressa. As part of Personal Structures 2026, Gottfried Kumpf’s "Big Panda with Cub" brings a sense of tenderness and playful monumentality to the gardens🎋

Created in 2005 for the Schönbrunn Zoo in Vienna, the bronze sculpture was commissioned to celebrate the arrival of a pair of giant pandas from China as part of an international breeding and conservation programme. Kumpf spent two years developing the work, first modelling it in clay in Pietrasanta before casting it in bronze in Bologna.

Today, "Big Panda with Cub" carries that original spirit of care, protection, and the preservation of wildlife, while inviting visitors to experience a beloved animal through the language of sculpture.

As part of Personal Structures 2026, Rashid Al Khalifa’s "Inhabited Crate" is presented at the Marinaressa Gardens in Venice, inviting visitors to experience the installation.

Built from galvanized, powder-coated steel mesh, the 4-metre-high cubic installation is not a solid volume, but an open framework of lines, voids, and intersections. Visitors are invited to walk through it, becoming part of the work as their movements and changing viewpoints activate the structure🟥

Drawing on the language of the modernist grid, "Inhabited Crate" transforms ideas of order and rigidity into something fluid and deeply personal. Light and shadow pass through the mesh, while every path creates a different experience.

The work ultimately reflects on the invisible structures that shape our everyday lives, from urban grids to social systems, while offering a moment of freedom: to slow down, wander, and simply inhabit space.

Set among the greenery of the Marinaressa Gardens in Venice, two works by Olga Lomaka and Asmer Sultanova invite us to pause and look beyond the surface👁️

In Olga Lomaka’s "Dreaming Miki", a monumental golden lemon emerges from the ground like a surreal fruit of the imagination. On its luminous surface, the sleeping face of a baby quietly appears. Beneath its playful and seductive appearance, the work explores innocence, memory, identity, and imagination, suggesting that the dream state can reveal hidden dimensions of the self.

In Asmer Sultanova’s "Meeting Point", a rabbit and a turtle meet in a moment of stillness. Traditionally associated with speed and slowness, the two figures become symbols of different rhythms that ultimately find a shared point of connection. The work reflects on patience, presence, and human connection, suggesting that slowing down can allow us to see and feel more deeply.

Set within the Marinaressa Gardens, facing the Venetian Lagoon, two works presented in Personal Structures – Confluences explore the fragile boundaries of identity and the self, approaching these questions through two distinct perspectives🪞

In Anna Chekh’s "Shadow Man", a faceless figure holds a sphere that becomes a metaphor for energy in constant movement, between the individual and the collective, presence and anonymity, inner space and the forces shaping our world.

In Avetis Sargsyan’s "Loss of Self", a feminine figure confronts a mirror-like form in a silent encounter where her own features begin to disappear. The work reflects on the dissolution of identity and the shifting boundary between reality and reflection.

Different in material and form, both sculptures invite us to pause and reflect on the nature of the self in a world defined by constant transformation.

Cincinnati Art Underground presents Keith Lemley’s "The Woods" as part of Personal Structures — Confluences, at Palazzo Mora🪵
In this immersive installation, neon sculptures shaped like axes meet raw tree trunks, creating a space where light, nature and human intervention come together. Using wood sourced from fallen trees on his family’s land in West Virginia, the artist brings a piece of his own landscape into the exhibition space.

As visitors move through the installation, the glowing axes and tree trunks create a changing atmosphere, inviting us to think about our connection with nature and the ways we transform it.

"Venetian Kind" is a multi-university research project exploring new ways of learning from a place through creative practice. As part of , up to 40 artists and researchers from Deakin University, Auckland University of Technology, LASALLE University of the Arts Singapore and IUAV University of Venice come together in Venice to listen, learn, exchange and create.

Over six months, different groups will spend time in the city, responding to its histories, communities, contexts and ecological challenges. There is no finished artwork planned in advance. The works, performances, workshops and actions will emerge through encounters, conversations, research and shared experiences. Venetian Kind is about collaboration, generosity and the exchange of ideas. It sees authorship as a process of passing things on, building together and making space for different voices.

With lavender-filled oprema/equipment on clothing, sculptures, and walking/sitting devices, "Vodi Me / Lead Me" is a sculptural installation conceived by artist Danica Jojich that consists of photographs, clothing, walking/sitting supports, and sculpture that assist in placing one foot in front of the other. When left with half a heart through loss, assistance is envisioned in this sculpture installation that activates motion through sight, smell, and kinetic imagination.
Linen clothing, walking/sitting devices, and sculptures are adorned with lavender-filled pillows of various sizes and whispers made from rusted half-hearts. Mona Lisa-like photographs whisper stability, confidence, mystery and calm. The act of walking through the terrace of Palazzo Mora, guided by smell, imagery, and sculptural assistance leads.
